'After the meal the group as sembled at Masonic Hall, where the chapter had planned a party honoring their little mascots, E dlth Jo Bridges and Glee Edwin Bridges, Jr., grandchildren of G. Miss Beam's first grade won the silver cup for the month. Mrs. David Fisher secretary re*d minutes of the November meeting. Open discussion was held on suggestions listed to be investigated by Finance and Bud get committee before the Jan uary meeting concerning needs of tifie school that the P. T. A. can purchase. Percy DilHng. i Twin-Table Club Met With Mrs. Griffin Mrs. E. W. Griffin entertained with bridgf: Tuesday night when her guests were members of the Twin -Table club and two addi tional guests Mrs. Phillip Pad gett and Mrs. J. H. Arthur. Christmas motif was carried out In the decorations, tallies and refreshments. After three progressions of bridge the hostess was assisted in serving Italian Spumoni, cho colate cake, stuffed dates, mlna ture anchovy butter sandwiches, pickles and English hot elder. ^Iot pizza, pies were passed! Colored slides of the hostess family, their home at Montonia and their lovely garden here were shown. Crawford Anthony, ol Kalamazoo, Mich. The picture was taken at a reception following \belr marriage at the Grace Christian Reformed Church in Kalamazoo on November 18. Mis. Anthony is the former Miss Elizabeth Eshouse. Her gilt was wrapped 1n fushia and silver stripped paper with a center piece of ornaments arranged as an old fashion bou- j quet. I For iteam I Mrs. Paul Neislerj won top honors with her arrange j ment oi a wreath in tne delaro ' phia feeling. The wreath consist- j ed of T)ine, cedar, spruce, box wood, with red apples, lemons, nuts, gumdrops arranged to cover j it. A huge red English Yule Can dle burned brightly in 'the center. Mrs. George H. Mauney gave a very entertaining lecture on "Make Your Own Merry Christ- j mas." Mrs. Mauney had made j j several novelties to explain her i I talk. One of special beauty was j a lollypop tree, which would be j a child's dream come true. Mrs Mauney showed the members what could be done with such every -day items as embroidery hoops, tooth picks in a cord and aluminum foil. I At the close of the meeting Mrs.-] Neill served a lovely Christmas plate consisting of fruit cake, coffee, sandwiches made as tris- 1 tXuCfed dates and a chocolate bell. ? Garden Club Meets With Mrs. M. A. Ware The Kings Mountain Garden Club held its Christmas meeting at the home of Mrs. M. A. Ware Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Geor ge H. Mauney gave a timely and interesting program on traditions of Christmas as expressed in dec- j orations taken from the book , "Make Your Own Merry Christ mas" by Ann Wertaler. . Mrs. Mauney used a numoer of illus trations which she had made for the occasion. The special arrangements made by the three teams of the club were as follows: Team I supplifjd the mantle arrangement which was made lovely and original1 with the use of tall brass candle ; holders with red candles at each 1 end and a panarama of fern and ; poinsettias with gold ornaments j in the cente*. Suspended at each ( corner of the mantle were Christ- j mas bails of gold tied with red j ribbons, and from the large mir ror above the mantle hung an ar- ( ray of gold balls from red rib- , bonsa of various lengths. Team II decor aft ed the dining table with a beautiful mass arrangement of i red poinsettias, gold balls and! gold foam-like tinsel wich glit tered in the light of eight lighted red candles- Team in caught the spirit of Christmas with a con sole table arrangement of green holly and galax leaves used to gether with gilded holly and ga lax leaves displayed in a round orass bowl. To the side was a brass candelabra holding three red candies. - ' Plana for the Club's second; Christmas Home Pilgrimage to j be held on December 21st were ! discussed at the business me?- 1 ing. Bach team will sponsor and decorate a home and the follow- J ing three- members will be open ed for the Pilgrimage: Mrs. H. C. ? Mayes, Mrs. George H. Mauney,! and Mta. Hunter Neisler. ' 1, Betty Evans Notes Fifth Birthday Mrs. J. 3. Evans entertained Saturday afternoon at her home with a party for her daughter, Betty who was celebrating her fifth birthday anniversary. Movies of Donald Duck, Mickie Mouse and Little Black Sambo were shown. After the play period the child ren gathered around" the table for refreshments and to sing "Happy Birthday" to Betty. Hanging from the chandelles o ver the table was a variety of colored balloons which were a herald of Christmas. Individual cakes with tiny candles were placed around the table. Christmas decorations were used throughout the party rooms featuring arrangements of Love Apples, Christmas greens and berries. Mrs. G?orge Houser and Mrs. Arnold Kiser were invited to play with the members. At the count of scores Mrs. Houser held high score for the afternoon. t A tempting salad course was served with coffee.
