mmm\ Miss Goforth Honors Miss Betsy Stowe MISS GOFORTH HONORS .... Miss Margaret Goforth enter tained Monday evening at the home of Mrs. J. R. Davis with a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Betsy Stowe, whose wed ding to George Allen of New I York City will take place in the ! early spring. 1 1 A green and white note was carried out in the bridal motif. The home was beautifully deco rated with arrangements of white gladioli and green and white pom poms. The bride-elect was presented a cofsage of white I carnations. Miss Stowe was love ly in a dress of . black net over green taffeta. Upon arrival of the guests, the hostess served a dessert course consisting of ic6 cream in ealla lily moulds; with bridal cakes and accessories. During the evening bridge and hearts were played. High score in bridge was won toy Mrs. L. P. Stowe, mother of the bride-elect. High score in hearts was won by Mrs. Lawrence Patrick. The bride-elect was presented a shower of lovely gifts. Little Kay Mauney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mauney, is recuperating from a tonsilectomy she underwent in the Gaston Memorial hospital Wednesday. Mrs. W. J. Fulkersjr. has enter ed the Memorial hospital in | Charlotte for treatment. Mrs. Vernon Crosby returned ; home last week from the Mercy Hospital where she bad been re ceiving treatment. Mrs. David Neill is a patient in | | Gaston Memorial hospital. Mrs. Eugene Matthews is re cuperating at her home after un- 1 dergoing a major operation in the | Shelby Hospital. Mrs. J. E. Dover is very ill at her home on the Waco Road. I, Mr. J. N. Gamble, a patient in the Memorial Hospital In Char lotte, where he underwent a seri ous operation last week is show ing some improvement. Mrs. Cloyd Hager and daughter of Hickory spent Sunday visiting In town. Mr. and Mrs. Freno Ware of Goldsboro, N. C., were guests of Miss Ava Ware during the week end. Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Suber re turned Tuesday from a two weeks vacation in Florida. They report the Kings Mountain folks at Palm Harbor are fine and en joying the sunny weather. The Kings Mountain man won the title over Mac Horn, former Texas Wfestern champ, in a hot four-set match. Fulton captured the first set easily, 21-13, but was j extended in the second, taking it 21-19. Horn then won the third 2L-10. The last set was a rigorous one, going several extra points before Fulton won it, 25-23. Sgt.
