Crook entertained members of the Study Club and additional guests at her hoiiie Tuesday, night. For the social e vent, the home was decorated with bowls of colorful ' spring flowers. In the living and dining rooms, large arrangements of jassamine, jonquils and other spring blooms were in attractive displays. Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, program leader, arranged a very interest ing program fpr the evening en titled, "Peculiarities of the Pres idents." Mrs. J. B. Keeter dis cussed Washington and Mrs. P. D. Circle Circle No. 1 and 2 of the Attie Bostic Y. W. A., met with Miss Betty Hayes Monday night. Mrs. Zelene Jackson presided over the joint business meeting of the two circles. A study cour se was planned for the circles to be held Tuesday February 27, at the First Baptist church with a covered dish supper. Miss Phyllis Ware was welcomed as a new member. Miss Betty Davis presented the program on, "Picturing Our Needs" ? for white, black, yel low and red ? they are all the same in the sight of God. The program was closed with prayer by: Mrs. Bill Logan. After the program delicious re freshments were served. Legion Auxiliary Meets In Tate Home The American Legion Auxiliary met with Mrs. Dickie Tate Thurs day night with Mrs. Clarence Black as co-hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Goforth were called to Laurinburg Sun day due to the illness of their daughter; Mrs. W. L. Coley. Mrs. Coley underwent a very serious operation Tuesday In the Scot land County Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Goforth expect to remain in Liaurinburg for several weeks. i Mrs. I. G. Patterson Elected President Of Senior Woman's Club Mrs. Paul Hendricks was In I charge of ,the program at the meeting of the Senior Woman's club Friday night. Mrs. Hend ricks gave an outline and the o rigin of Girl Scouting stressing Round the World activities the local scouts have participated in. Intermediate Troop No. 11 of the Methodist church gave a playlett demonstrating a meeting and the thought and love that goes into packing a box for a troop of sister scouts in a foreign country. During the business presided over by the president, Mrs. Jacob Mauney, routine matters were disposed of. Mrs. Mauney urged the members to bring books and magazines to the club house Sat urday morning February 24. These are to be sent to Foreign countries. A letter was read from a lady in Italy the club had re membered at Christmas time with a box, thanking the club for the gifts and saying, we, in A merica did not know how to ap preciate having enough material for clothes. The State meeting will be held in Charlotte April 21 through 24. Members were urged to attend and hear plans made for the year's work. The Cancer Drive, one of the club activities, will be under the direction of Mrs. J. H. Arthur. Several other yearly projects were discussed. The nominating committee pre sented the following slate of offi cers for the coming year: Presi dent, Mrs. I. G. Patterson; 2nd. vice-president, Mrs. E. W. Griffin; recording secretary, Mrs. J. N. Gamble; corresponding secre tary, Mrs. George Allen; Chap lain, Mrs. P D. Patrick; Historian, Mrs. Luther Cansler. Mrs J. H. Patterson, as 1st vice president, Mrs. P. G. Ratterree as assistant secretary, whose terms have not expired will continue in office. Mrs. Jacob Mauney was asked to serve as president for another year, but declined.
