octe MRS. P. D. HERN DON. Editor Mrs. Baird Speaker At Study Club The Study Club held a delight, tul meeting Tuesday night at the Country Club with Mrs. Hunter Neisler as hostess. Mrs. N. F. McGill, program, leader, presented Miss Evelyn Cline, Miss Melba Tindall and Miss Hilda King, the girls trio from the high school who sang, "Holy City," by Adams, and ?"Smiling Through," the number they received a superior rating on. They were accompanied by Miss Jeanene Hallman. ' Miss Hilda King gave a piano solo, "Carnival Procession," by Lecusino, which she received a superior rating on. Mrs. McGill presented Mrs. Fred L. Balrd of Shelby who de lighted the club with her talk on "Tar Heel Women." Giving a brief sketch of the lives and ac tivities of Rebecca Bryan Boone, wife of pioneer Daniel Boone. Susan Twltty, DolUe Payne Mad ison and Matilda Neill Whistler. Special guests were Mrs. Jesse Kiaer and Mrs. Mason Barber, guests of Mrs. L. A. Hoke and Mrs. W. L. Pi essy. Prior to the program the hos tess was assisted in serving a dessert course. The lower floor of the club was decorated with lovely arrange ments of pear blossoms, daffo dils, narcissus and other spring blossoms. David Roberts Birthday Noted The children in Mrs. David Fisher's room enjoyed a bkthday party Thursday afternoon given by Mrs. Eugene Roberts honor ing her son, David, on his ninth birthday. * Movie films were shown! PopsJcles and candy were ser ved. i Entre-Nous Club Met With Mrs. Arthur Mrs. H. R. Hunnicutt was invi ted to play bridge with members of the Entre-Nous club when it met with Mrs. J. H. Arthur on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Clyde Kerns compiled the highest score and was awarded high score prize. Mrs. H. L. Camp bell was runner-up and received a prize. The home was decorated with assorted spring flowers. A salad and sweet course was served with coffee. Mrs. Rhea Hostess To Auxiliary l Mrs. J. M. Rhea delightfully entertained members of the A merican Legion auxiliary at her home Thursday night. Mrs. James Ware ga\? the de votional centering her thoughts on Easter. ' * Dr. J. C. Lamply in a very in teresting and entertaining way told of a recent trip to Vienna. Mrs. J. C, 7olly presided over the short business meeting. When the meeting adjourned the hostess was assisted in ser ving refreshments. Town Club Meets In Mayes Home The Town Club met at the home of Ann Mayes Saturday night, with Johnny Warlick as co-hostess. Nearly all members were pres ent. Dancing and numerous gam es were the pastime of the even ing. There was no business meet ing. The club meets this Satur day at the home of Dick Webb.
