The David Neills Dinner Hosts Mr. and Mrs. David Neill en tertained at a beautifully ap pointed dinner at the Country Club Tuesday, March 27, Hunor ed on this occasion was Miss Mary Virginia Sommers and Charles Neisler whose wedding was a social event of Saturday nteht. Easter Mie? and white narcis sus were used in the foyer and drawing rooms. A large arrangement of daffo dils and jonquils In varying shades of yellow, purple hyacin ths and Dutch iris centered the table flanked on either side with low arrangements of pansles and crystal candlabras with green candles/ On the mantle was a fan-shaped arrangement of sim ilar flowers. Miss Sommers' place was marked with a corsage of white carnations. A delightful dinner was served in four cour ses. Those enjoying Mr. and Mrs. Weill's hospitality other than the honorees Were Mr. and Mrs. Hen ry Neisler, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neill, Miss Jeanne Sommers, Miss Lillian Barber, Blllle Gene Neis ler and Ed Smith, Jr. ? Dr. Padgett Heard At PTA Dr. Phillip Padgett gave a very Inspiring talk Wednesday after noon <at the Ceretral P. T. A. meet ing. His topic was "A Sound Mind." The devotional was given by Rev. P. D, Patrick on "Faith, Hope and Charity." During the business the asso ciation voted to give $75?to help buy robes for the mixed chorus. Members were urged to attend the meeting of Field Workers In Shelby Thursday afternoon. Plans were discussed for Father's Night to be held" the third Tues day night in April. After oth er routine business a social hour was enjoyed. Refreshments were served by the hostess committee. ? * 2Z2 The American Way SET ? ? I ??1 &Si wM Two Are Hostess^# > For Circle Meeting Circle 1 of Central Methodist church met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. T. Carpenter with Mrs. II. M. Ormand, associ ate hostess. The meeting was opened wjth the group singing "Faith of Our Fathers." Mrs. H. T. Fulton gave the devotional from St. Matthew. Mrs. M. L. Houser'had aranged a program from the' World Out look discussing first, Bethlehem Center In Spartanburg, and second, ,the Cherokee Mission Work. Mrs. Paul Hendricks, leader, ur^cd to attend the Spiritual Life meeting to be held With Mrs. C. A. Etutterworth on the 11th. The meeting was closed with prayer. Seventeen members and three visitors were present and enjoy ed a fellowship period together after the business. The hostesses were assisted by Mrs. J. B. Plonk and Mrs. C. T. Carpenter, Jr., in serving refresh ments. . Miss Stowe Feted With Bridge Party Mrs. George Allen and MLss Irene Allen gave a party Friday night at the home of the former on East King street. The occas ion honored t Miss Betsy Stowe, bride-elect. ' ? ?* -? Mixed spring flowers were used in the party rooms, with African violets centering the card tables. Upon her arrival, the hostesses presented Miss Stowe with an orchid corsage. A dessert course was served after which four tables of bridge were in play. High score prize was won by Mrs. Marshall Moore and Mrs. W. D. Kerns scored low. Floating prize was won by Mrs. C. E. War lick. A setting of china in her wed ding pattern was presented Miss Stowe by the hostesses. Miss Davidson Elected President At a meeting of the young peo ple of Kings Mountain JPrtsby tery in Lincolnton April 1, Miss Dolores Davidson was elected president of the Presbytery for coming two years. Miss Davidson is Che daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Davidson. She Is secretary of the local Youth Fellowship group, and a sophomore in high school. Other members of the council from First Presbyterian church are: Miss Pat Neisler, treasurer, Miss Shirley Arthur, editor, and Dick Webb, chairman of ushers. Mrs. C. E. Neisler and Mrs M. L Plonk returned Thursday from several months, stay at the Neis ler home In Palm Harbor Fla. MBS. RICHARD STUART OTXHfOGHUK O'Donoghue-Ballard Wedding Is Held In Belmont Abbey Cathedral Miss Patsy Ruth Ballard, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Young Ballard, became the bride of Richard Stuart O'Donoghue, son of Mrs. William Daniel O'Donghue of Charlotte and the late Mr. O'Donoghue, in a cere mony at Belmont Abbey Cathed ral Saturday afternoon cut 5:30 o'clock. Rev. Walter Coggin offi ciated. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. H. D. Ken dall, organist, and Miss Mary Joe Bumgardner, vocalist. Miss Bum gardner sang "Ave Maria," "The Rosary," and ''The Lord's Pray er." The wedding march from "Lohengrin" by Wagner was played as the processional, and Mendelssohn's march from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" was used as the recessional. BRIDE'S GOWN T^.e bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a Miriam gown of imported lace over du chess satin fashioned with a low scalloped neckline filled with ny lon tulle and trimmed with seed pearls. The bodice was fitted, the long fitted sleeves ended In cav alier ruffles over the hands. The full gathered skirt ended in a train. Her finger-tip-length veil of silk illusion was attached to I a bonnet of Chantilly lace trim med with seed pearls. She carri ed a bouquet of call? lilies. Miss Daphne Ballard, sister of the bride and maid of honor wore a dress of Nile green marquisette over taffeta fashioned with a strapless bodice with capelet, and bouffant skirt worn over hoops. She wore a hat of Nile green maline trimmed with ap ple blossoms, and she carried a fan -shaped bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. Mrs. Wllmoth Duke Kerns was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Thelma Ford of Gas ton ia and Mrs. Roderick William O'Donoghue of Charlotte. Their dresses and bouquets were iden tical to those of the maid of hon or. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. W. O. Ruddock, Mrs. I. B. Goforth, Jr., Mrs. Fred McDan iel, Jr., Miss Emelyn Gillespie, all of Kings Mountain; Mrs. R. H. Moeller, Jr., Miss Kathleen Neil son, and Miss Dorothy Robbins, all of Charlotte. Afiss Donna Lynne Ballard, niece of the bride, was f'ower girl. She wore a dress of white brocaded organdy. Ernie Ford, ringbearer, carried the rings in a white satin pillow. The bridegroom had his broth er, Roderick William O'Donoghue as best man, and ushers were I John E. Crowley, Jr., Robert H I Moeller, Jr., James C. Taylor, and I Thomas O'Donoghue of Cbar [ lotte; H. Reginald Ballard of I Winston - Salem and William j D. Kirk of Morristown, Tenn. The mother of the bride wore a dress of aqua lace and chiffon studded with rhinestones. She wore an aqua maline hat and a lavender orchid shoulder bou quet. The bridegroom's mother wore a mauve crepe gown with lace appllqued yoke, and a vio let net hat trimmed with vio lets and matching velvet rib bon. She also wore a lavender or | chid shoulder bouquet. TO I-tVE Of CHARLOTTE After the ceremony, the parents of the bride entertained at a re ception at 315 North Central av enue, Belmont. Later the couple left for ? wedding trip, after I which they will be at home at 222 Emerson avenue, Charlotte. For traveling the bride wore a sutt of champagne wool with pink accessories and a purple or chid shoulder bouquet. The bride graduated from the local high school. She also at tended Florida Southern college, Lakeland, Fla., and Sacred Heart Junior college. For the last two years she has held a position with Jackson and Smith in Gas tonia. Mr. O'Donoghue attended Mount Saint Joseph's in Baltl more, Md? Belmont Abbey Junior college, and the University of South Carolina ?t Columbia, S C., Where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He served two years with die u. S. I Favorite RECIPES | BEZF STEW (Garland Still) 2 pounds boneless stew. ' V 1 large onion, 1 can tomatoes. 1 stalk of celery. 1 te?u?poon salt 1 dash red pepper. 5 Irish potatoes. Add all Ingredients to the stew except potatoes and cook until tender. Quarter the potatoes and place on top when stew to done, and cook until potatoes are done. Add thickening. Serve. ? ? ? PINEAPPLE SALAD (Mrs. David Flaher) Heat 2 cups crushed pineapple Just as It comes from the can. Add Juice of 1 lemon, 1 scant cup sugar, stir well until sugar Is dis solved. Soak 2 tablespoons gela tin in 1/2 cup cold water for 10 minutes. Add to pineapple mix ture while still hat Mix thorou ghly. When cold and beginning to set, add 1 cup grated Ameri can cheese and 1/2 cup cream beaten stiff. Put In refrigerator until firm and ready to serve.
