Senior MYFTo Have Workshop Miss Nan Jean Gantt will bo hostess to the Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship on Tuesday night at 7:30 o'clock at her home for a "Workshop" meeting. As a community service project, the group will make greeting cards for hospital trays. Miss Jo Ann Hayes will begin Sunday morning the World Friendship project tor the month of April, raising money to send a 'TARE" package overseas. Young people are urged to come prepared to give liberally. The Senior MYl<?egan last Sun day a series of studies on the Ten Commandments; These com mandments are printed on two flarge posters, shaped like tab-, lets of stone, and placed in the chapel. They were printed by Pa tricia Prince. Subject for next Sunday's program and lesson Is "Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me." Program leader 1# Jo Ann Palls, and soloist. Nan Jean Gantt. Leader last Sunday morn ing was John Warllck. Y. W. A. Met With Mrs. Logan Circle of the Attle Bastic YWA met Monday night with Mrs. Bill Logan. The meeting was opened with prayer by Mrs. Logan. Mrs. Dee Jackson presided over the rou tine business. Under new busi ness Community Missions were discussed. With Miss Martha Cox as lead er, all members took part on the program. The topic for discus sion was, "Love." Miss Cox clos ed the program with prayer. During the fellowship hou/ Mrs. Logan was presented a 'bir thday gift from the members. Clay Speaks To Book Clubs The Homo Arts Club entertain ed members of "the Study CJuii and the Thursday Afternoon Book Club with a delightful meeting at the Woman's club house Tuesday night. The club house was most at tractive with floral arrangements of gladoli, snapdragons, giant narcissus, sprays of judas and potted plants. The meeting was held in the 'ballroom. Across one end of the room, was a miniature picket fence entwined with pur ple wisteria. Mrs. Paul Hendricks, president, welcomed the guests and presen ted Mrs. W. L. Pressly who intro duced the speaker. In her intro duction Mrs. Pressly said, "I might introduce our speaker as a poet, for he is, or I might in troduce him as an author, for he is. He is also a publisher and a well traveled person but I take pleasure in presenting my friend, John Wesley Clay of Winston Salem." , Mr. Clay spoKe in a humorous vein on "High Adventure," which delighted his audience Mr. Howard Coble, director of public school music sang, "The Hills of Home," by Oscar Fox and "Home," As an encore "Old Mother Hubbard." He was accom panied by Mrs. J. E. Herndon. A social followed. The refresh ment committee, served a con gealed salad plate with hot tea. A sweet course was i&ssed. New Garden Club Is Organized On Friday afternoon, March 30, at 3:30 p. m., a group of interest ed woihen met at the home of Mrs. C. T. Gault, Jr., and organiz ed a new Garden Club. Eleven women were present and live oth ers sent their names to be added jto the list of charter members. Hie home was very lovely with attractive arrangements of spring flowers, Jonquils, pansies, lilacs, and tulips were used In colorful display. Mrs. Tim Hord called the meet ing to order and presided. She turned the meeting over to Mrs. W. L. Pressly, president of the Kings Mountain Garden Club, who discussed the organization ?nd projects of a new club. The members chose the name of The Open Gate Garden Club and decided to meet on the third Wednesday at each month. Of ficers were elected as follows: President, Mrs. Clyde Kerns; Vice president, Mrs. C. J. Gault, Jr.; Secretary ? Treasurer, Mrs Dickie Tate. Charter members of the new dub are: Mrs. Tim Hord, Mrs. Wendell Phifer, Mrs. B. T. Wright, Mrs. Clyde Kerns, Mrs. Dickie Tate, Mrs. T. L. Caihwell, Jr., Mrs. Arnold Kincald, Mi*. Padgett Talks On Cancer A special dinner meeting was held at the Woman's Club Mon day night launching the annual fund drive for the American Can cer Society. v';' v A baked ham dinner with tempting accessories was served by Mrs. Paul McGlnnis. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Jacob Mauney, president of the Senior Woman's Club. The Cancer Drive is one of the proj sects of the club.
