Three tables wer placed in the den and sun porch where zin nias, gladioli and daisies Were used in pleasing arrangements. During tfce progressions a fro zen salad course, sandwiches and tea was served. A sweet course was passed. Playing prizes for the after noon were presented M-r Hirry Warren for holding high score. Club high went to Mrs. Don Blanton. Mrs. Kiser also gave Mrs. Warren a gift. Those playing other than club members were Mrs. Harry War ren of Roanoke. Va., guest of Mrs. Fred Finger, Mrs. Hunter Nelsler, Mrs. Carl Mauney, Mrs. Jacob Cooper, Mrs. H. S. Blacky mer, Mrs. Haywood E. Lynch and Mrs. J. L. McGill. Paul Ham's Birthday Noted Mrs. Stella Flowers gave a sur prise birthday dinner Sunday for Paul Ham. - A bountiful dinner was served buffet style to the following: Bob Goforth, Raymond Goforth,| William Upchutah, Charles Guy ton, Bud Sherrill, Red Moirison, Don Flowers, Howard Smith, Ca rol Ledford, Gene Dye, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Flowers, Mr. and Mrs. Flo Flowers. Eastern Stars Planning School Chapter 123 Order of the East ern Star held their regular meet ing Friday night, July 13th in chapter room In the Masonic Hall. x . Mrs. Denver King was Initiated into the order. Plans are being made for the District School of instruction to be hald in Shelby in August with Kings Mountain chapter 123 and Bessemer City 263 as co-hostesses. Two Are Hostesses At Breakfast Mrs. James Edward Llttlejohn and Mrs. Jimmie K. Willis, Jr., entertained at the home of Mrs. J. K. Willis with a wedding breakfast Tuesday morning, July 10th, honoring Miss Mary Beth. Hord and her bridesmaids. Mixed flowers were used in the living room, in the dining room traditional green and white were featured. A low arrangement of white carnations and gypsophiiia topped with a wedding bell cen tered the table, white gladioli were used on the buffett. Florida fruit cup, ham grits, eggs and guva jelly biscuits were served. Miss Hord took this occassion to present her attendants ' with pearl ear rings, a strand of baby pearls was given the little flower girls. The hostesses presented Miss Hord with sliver In her chosen pattern. Mrs. Willis Honors Two With Party Mrs. J. K. Willis entertained with four tables of rook at her home Friday night. Mixed flowers were used to create a festive air for the party which was planned tor Mrs. D. G.. Llttlejohn and "Mrs. Y. F.. Throneburg who were celebra ting their birthday anniversaries. A Florida fruit plate topped with Ice cream was served with punch. At the tally of scores, Mrs. R. R. Yarboro held high with Mrs. Littlejohn holding second high. The honorees were also remem bered with gifts. Mrs. Harmon Hostess To A. R. P. Circle The Mary Kennedy Circle of the A R. P. church met with Mrs. Martin Harmon Monday night at eight Mrs. Pride Ratterree had char ge of the program on the sub ject: "Foreign Missions." Mrs. Ratterree discussed problems of mission work in Mexico and Pakistan. After a short business session Mrs. Harmon served ice cream and cookies to the members. Miss Plonk Speaks To Study CIud The home of Mrs. J. B. Keeter held lovely arrangements , of mixed flowers Tuesday night when her guests were members i of The Study Club and five ad ditional guests. Miss Virginia Plonk, Mrs. Harry Moore, Mrs. M. K. Fuller, Mrs. T. L. Cashwell and Mrs. D. F. Hord. Jr. . During the business meeting, Mesdames B. N. Barnes, Paul Mauney and H. E. Lynch were appointed on the book committee for the year. Mrs. Patterson ex tended an invitation from Mrs. Andrew Jenkins for the ladies to attend a Hevlon party to be held in the Woman's Club Wednes day night. Mrs. E. W. Griffin, program leader, presented Miss Virginia Plonk who has just returned from a years teaching in Japan. Miss Pl^nk delighted the group with her informal discussion of the habits, religion, principle crops, their mode of living, holi days, etc. of the Japanese. Pic tures were passed of interesting places, idols, homes and garden scenes. Lovely and unique trinck ets and souveniers, a cook book and a book on flower arrange ments were especially enjoyed. Mrs. Keeter assisted by Mrs. P. F. Hord, Jr. and Mrs. T. L. Cashwell served raspberry ice cream, cokies and punch. T. E lT Party Held In Cash Home The T. E. L. Class of the First Baptist church held their annual birthday party Tuesday after noon, July 10,- in the home of Mrs. C. E. Cash with 25 mem bers and one visitor present. Mrs. W. J. Crawford had plan ned a very interesting program. Homemade ice cream was serv ed with the birthday cake by Mrs. Cash, Mrs. D. G. Littlejohn and Mrs. Byrte Ware. A variety of cut flowers were used to decorate the home. Patterson Twins Feted On Birthday Billy and, Joe Patterson, twin . sons of Mr. and Mrs, J. H. Patter son, were honored on their four th birthday anniversary Mon day afternoon, when their mo ther entertained at a lawn par ty at the Patterson home on Par ker sreet. When the young guests arriv ed. they were served pink le monade. Mrs. M. C. Poston di rected the games and .play for the 2S 4-year-old friends of the young boys. The birthday table, placed on the lawn, was decorated in a mass of balloons on the end while on the opposite end was the huge Hoppa-Long Cassidy birthday cake. In the center was an arrangement of glads with four white candles. Mrs. Patterson was assisted in serving ice cream and cake. Each child was given a favor and one of the balloons from the table. The young honorees received many gifts from their guests. Mrs. C. S. Plonk made movies of the children. Two Entertain For Bride-Elect As a special courtesy to Miss Carolyn Early, whose wedding to G. L. McDaniel, Jr. was an ^vent of last week Mrs. Harold Hicks and Mrs. Albert Crawford enter tained Thursday night at the home of Mrs.G. L. McDaniel. Ar rangements of gladioli and sum mer flowers were used in the home as decorations. A corsage was given Miss Early upon her arrival, contests and games featured the evenings entertainment. After the refreshments were served climaxing the evening was the miscellaneous shower given the honoree. . Miss 'Mildred Tuberfield of Washington, D. C. is visiting her grandmother, Mrs. A. L.
