MRS. P. D. HERNDON. Editor PRONE 167 Circle Meets With Mrs. T. F. Ware The Rachel Humphries circle of the Second Baptist church met Tuesday evening with Mrs. T. F. Ware. - The meeting was opened with the group singing, Wonderful Words Of Life, followed with prayer by Mrs." T. P. Ware. Devotional readings were giv en by Mesdames T. F. Ware, II. E. Benfieid, G. W. White, H. H. Smith, S. O. Kirby and Miss Eth el Hinson. The topic for discussion was, "Giving Attention to Bible Read ings," An interesting talk was given by Mrs. J, H. Carrol on "Reading the Binle." The meeting was closed with a song Blessed Redeemer sung by Mrs. G. W. Whit.- ami Miss Ethel Hinson. A hearty welcome was given Fulton Home Scene Of Bridge Party Mrs. Bill Fulton entertained^ with a bridge party Tuesday aft ernoon, her guest3 included members of the Contract Club and two additional guests, Miss Nancy Nickles and Mrs. Sam Stallings. Roses and other cut flowers en- 1 hanced the attractiveness of thej living room, where guests as sembled at tables arranged for j bridge. -Cokes and nuts were" served | during the progressions and aft er the games iced watermelon | was served. Mrs. Claud Hambright and Mrs. Sam Stallings received high and second high score awards. Mrs. G. W. White, a new member. | Mrs. S. O. Kirby assisted the hostess in serving tempting re freshments. NOW! GIBSON Miss Virginia Moss Becomes Bride Of James C. Gibson In Church Ceremony One of the prettiest weddings of the season was solemnized at the Temple Baptist Church on Saturday, July 21, at 7:30 o'clock In the evening when Miss Virgin ia I. Moss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Moss, became the bride of James C. Gibson, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gibson. Rev. W. F. Monroe, pastor of the church, heard the exchange of vows. A setting of unusual beauty was achieved by use of stately floor baskets filled with white gladioli which were posed before a background of greenery, group ed with cathedral tapers in branched candelabras. A program of wedding music was rendered by Mrs. Garrison Goforth. The bride was given In mar riage by her father, F. E. Moss, and Eugene Gibson was his bro ther's best man. Ushers were Clyde Whitstine and Solan Moss. The Bride's Goivn . The bride wore a gown of Chantilly lace over white satin, fashioned with a fitted bodice, a yoke of nylon illusion and a bouf fant floor length skirt. She wore elbow length matching mitts, and her finger length veil of illusion had a brief over tier and was held in place by a tira of satin. She carried a prayer book topped with a purple orchid showered with purple streamers and baby's breath. Mrs. Clyde Whitstine was her sister's only , attendant. Her gown was of light green silk organza fashioned similar to the bride's. Mrs. Moss, the bride's mother, wore a modish dress of pink lin en with blue accessories. Mrs. Gibson, mother of the bride groom was smartly attired in green. Miss Betty Moss and Miss Ray Humphries, presided at the bride's register. Wedding Trip Mr. and Mrs. Gibson left after wards for a wedding trip through Florida and upon their return they will be at home at the Mar [ grace. For traveling Mrs. Gib son chose a chic suit of orchid with which she wore white acces sories and the orchid from her bouquet. The young couple were educat ed in the city schools. Mr. Gib son attended North Carolina State College. He is now employ ed with the Margrace Mill. Shirley Ann Ware's Birthday Noted Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ware gave a birthday party for their daugh ter, Shirley Ami on her 14th birthday, Saturday, July 21. The group assembled at the Ware home and later Mr. , and Mrs. Ware took them to the Shel by Recreation Park where swim ming was the main attraction. After the swim a picnic supper was enjoyed by the following, Jane Ormand, Betty Prince, Jack ie Arnette, Elaine' Goforth, Bil lie Babry. Shirley Ann was the recipient of many lovely gifts which were opened before going to Shelby. Mrs. Ramseur Fetes Bridge Club Members of the Tuesday night bridge club held a pleasant meet ing this week with Mrs. W. L. Ramseur as hostess at her home on West Mountain street. After the games Miss Patty Nelsler was found to be winner of the high score prize, and the consolation prize weht to Mrs. Henry Neisler. Mrs. Charles Neisler, a, recent bride was re membered with a gift. Others playing were Miss Hel en Hay, Mrs. Robert Miller, Mrs. Frank Hoyle, Mrs. Q. P. Lewis Personals Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ware, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Beam spent last week vacationing Jn Miami, Fla. ? ? o ? ? Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoyle and children, Kathey and Frank, Jr., have returned from a two weeks vacation spent at Crescent Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Ward spent last weekend in Montreat visit ing their daughter, Hallie who i6 in camp there. Major David B. Wright of Wilmington was a guest during the weekend of his sister, Mrs." Arnold Kiser and Mr. Kiser. Mrs. P. Ansel Putman and Mrs. O. Z. White of Greenville, S. C. who have been visiting. Mrs. E. W. Neal left Wednesday for a week's visit at Crescent Beach. They were accompanied by Miss Judy Cooper who will spend the week with them at the beach. Dr. and Mrs. E. C. Cooper who are spending sometime at their cottage in Hendersonville were Kings Mountain visitors Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Teague and children, Anne, Austin and Bobble of Charleston, West Va.,I were- guests over the weekend of Rev. and Mrs. T. L. Teague. They were enrOute to Daytona Beach, Fla. Another son, Capt. C. V. Teague, Mrs. Teague and son, Stevie of Fort Bragg were Sun day guests of Rev. and Mrs. Teague. Mrs. Blackmer Bridge Hostess Mrs. H. S. Blackmer was hos tess to members : of the Tuesday afternoon bridge club entertain ing at the Country Club. Seasonal flowers' were used to emphasize a decorative motif and guests found their places at small tables set up for the gam es. The hostess Served a salad and sweet course during the progres sions. Mrs. Charles Dilling held high score for the afternoon, Mrs. Ar nold Kiser was invited to play with club members. and Mrs. Coman Falls.
