Hord's Fete Bridge Club Mr. and Mrs. Jack White wore Invited to play with members of tha Hl-Lo Bridge' club when it met Friday night with Dr. and Mrs. D. F. Hord. Mrs. Hord had used mixed flowers to add color to the party rooms. When card were laid a side a dessert course wais served. Mrs. Glee Edwin Bridges held high score for ladies and Sam Stallings held high for the gen tlemen. Mrs. J. M. Cooper Bridge Club Hostess The Ace of Clubs and several visitors were entertained Thurs day afternoon by Mrs. J. M. Cooper. Gladioli and roses were used as decorations in the party rooms. The game, played at two tables, was followed by refresh ments In two courses. Mrs. H. S. Blackmer .scored highest . for visitors and Mrs, Fred Plonk carried off high score for club members. AN ORDINANCE An ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Fixing the Tax Hate for the City of Kings Mountain for the fiscal year 1951-52 beginning July 1, 1953, and ending June 30, 1952, and levying a tax upon all real and personal property, and Poll Tax upon all male persons between the ages of twen ty-one and fifty years within the limits of the City of Kings Mountain for said fiscal period. Be it ordained by. the board of commissioners of the City of Kings Mountain in session in the City Hall in the City of Kings Mountain on the 16th day of July 1951. Section 1 That for the purpose of defraying the general expense of the City of Kings Mountain for the fiscal year 1951-52 for the payment of interest accrued and to accrue, for the re tirement of maturing bonds, there is hereby levied upon all real and personal property within the limits of the City of Kings Mountain the following rates of taxations: A. For General Purposes, $ .66 on the One Hundred Dol lar Valuation for real and personal property; B. For the payment of interest, and the retirement of Bonds and other Debt Service requirements, $ .76 cents on the One Hundred Dollar Valuation of real and personal property; C. For Capital Investments purpose, $ .38 cents on the One Hundred Dollar Valuation of real and personal prop erty; D. For the purpose set forth in Items A & B, a tax on poll of $2.70 to be apportioned in the same ratio as the tax lev ied in Items A & B. Section 2 The Tax Collector for the City of Kings Mountain is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to proceed to collect taxes levied upon all real and personal property and polls within the limits of the City'of Kings Mountain based upon the foregoing rates, provided that on all taxes paid in advance the discount be allowed and that all taxes upon which cost, interest or penalties accrue, according to law the same shall be added and collected. Section 3 The City Treasurer is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to apportion the said funds coming into his hands from taxes collected for the fiscal year 1951-1952, according to the rate and classification fixed in Section 1, -and to apply all cost, interest and penalties from taxes coming into his hands to general fund purpbses only. Section. 4 That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5 That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and shall be published one time in a newspaper published in the City of Kings Mountain, N. C. Wright of Fallston, became the bride of Thomas B. Freeman, son of Da vid C. Freeman and the late Mrs. Freeman of Spartanburg, S. C., Friday afternoon at 5:30 in a beautiful wedding held In Friend ship Methodist Church at Falls ton. The Rev. E. A. Lamb, pastor of the church, read the double ring ritual for the couple. Oregon and plumo3a ferns were fashioned Into a central fan-shaped arrangement of greenery at the back of the chan cel and in front of It were two arrangements of white gladioli, flanking an arch entwined with Ivy and white flowers. Four floor candelabra, each holding seven white tapers, were also grouped on the altar. Mrs. Clem Martin, church pr ganist and Mrs. Sam Greene of Mooresboro, vocal soloist, pre sented a program of wedding; music. ~ j Formal Safin Ooum The bride was given In mar riage by her brother, Odus A. Wright of Taylors, S. C. She wore a gown of white satin fash ioned with yoke of lace, flange collar, pleated at center-front be low the yoke, fitted bodice, ex tending below the waist line, fit ted sleeves, ending in convention al calla Illy points, and long, flared skirt, which ended in a train. Her fingertip veil of illu sion was draped from a bonnet of lace outlined with seed pears. She wore a single strand of pearls .and carried a fan-shaped bouquet of white roses arranged around a white orchid and tied with white satin ribbons. Miss Velma Wright attended her sister as maid of honor and Misses Clara and Jean Wright, also sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. The three attend ants wore white taffeta gowns made on linos similar to the bride's, coronets of white net pompons, and white mitts. They all carried fan shapped bouquets of red roses, the honor maid's bouquet being tied with red sa tin ribbons and the bridesmaids' bouquets being tied with white satin ribbons. Best Man, Ushers Carroll Shook of Spartanburg, S. C., was best man for' the bride-groom and Hugh and Win slow Wright, Jr., of Fallston, brothers of the bride, and Wal ter Randle of Kings Mountain served as ushers. The mother of the bride wore a navy blue sheer dress with navy blue accessories and a cor sage of white roses. After the ceremony the couple received friends at the front of the church. Later they left for a wedding trip and upon their re turn will 'make their home at 2112 North Pine street in Char lotte. Mrs. Freeman received her B. W .Falls, president, pre sided over the business session. Mrs. Paul Mauney presented Mrs. W. L. Pressly, who gave a very interesting talk on flowers and flower arrangements. The hostesses, Mrs. .Otto Guy ton, Mrs. Ray Mullinax, and Mrs. George Sellers, served refresh ments. . er's College and has done grad uate work at Appalachian State Teachers College, .Boone. At pres ent she is a member of the facul ty of the Parks Hutchison School in Charlotte. She is a former member of the faculty of Kings Mountain School. Mr. Freeman received his A. B. degree from Wofford College, Spartanburg, S. C., and his M. A. degrees from Appalachian State Teachers College. During World War II he served overseas In the Pacific war area.
