Local Ladies Attend District Gardert Meeting Those attending the meeting of the third district of the N. C. Federation of Garden clubs held Wednesday in Gastonia were Mrs. J. L. McGill, Mrs. Hunter Neisler, Mrs. W. L. Pressly; Mrs. M. A. Ware. Mrs. II. C. Mayes, Mrs. George Houser, Mrs. J. E. Hern don. Mrs. P. G. Padgett, and Mrs. W. L. Ramseur from the Kings Mountain Garden Club. Mesdames Clyde Kerns, Tolly Shuford, Pete Barkley, B. T. Wright and W. M. Gantt from the Open Gate Garden Club. Mes dames. Sam Davis, Henry Neis ler and J. M. Cooper from the House and Garden Club. Highlights of the meeting were the presentation of the state and district officers. The featured speaker was the state president, Mrs. Homewood, whose, subject was "Horticulture" and slides of wild flowers were shown by R. M.Schiele, executive of Piedmont Boy Scout Council. Lncheon was served at 1 o' clock in the Masonic Temple. At tractive corsages and favors were given each guest. During the business Mrs. Sam Davis reported, the Kings Moun tain Garden Clubs wanted to compete for the state award on ' their rose project OES Held Regular Meeting Friday The Kings Mountain Chapter 123 Order of Easter Star held its regular meeting at the Masonic hall Friday. Giil Scout Week Observed Kings Mountain Girl Scouts have been observing Girl Scout Week since Sunday, and will ga ther at the First Baptist church recreational building Saturday morning at 9:30 for a Kings Mountain Round-up. Feature of the meeting will be distribution of "How To Be Pre pared" phamplets, produced in the interest of civil defense. Troop program emphasis will be placed on this subject during 1951-52. The seven days of Girl Scout week have featured program ac tivities in an effort to bring all Hambright Rites I Held Wednesday Funeral rites for Robert E< | (Ed) Hambright, 71, prominent] Grover citizen, were held Wed nesday afternoon at Antiocii Bap tist church, with Masonic burial rites following at the Grover cemetery. Mr. Hambright succumbed at 5:15 Monday afternoon at Char lotte Memorial hospital following a 10-day illness. He had suffered from a heart condition for the past four years. A native of the Ahtloch com munity near Grover, Mr. Ham bright had been a Grover mer-| chant for more than 50 years. He was also a former rural mail carrier. He was the son of the late Anderson and Sarah Dickson Hambright and a direct descend ant of Col. William Frederick Hambright, a commander at the Battle of Kings Mountain in the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the Grover Baptist church. Suivlving are his w}fe, Mrs. , Flora Fain Hambright, to whom | he was married on February 23. 1921, two sons, R. E. Hambright, Jr., of Grover, and Ralph Fain Hambright, with the U. S. Air Force at San Antonio, Texas, two daughters, Mrs. Grover Nun nery, of Charlotte, and Mrs. Gro ver Meharg, of Norfolk, Va? two brothers, Ross Hambtight and T. A. Hambright, both of Grover, and four sisters, Mrs. Flora Sims, Sharon, S. C., Miss Ancie Ham bright, of Kings Mountain, Mrs. ? Bessie Ferguson, York, S. C.? and I Mrs. Alice Plaxico, of Chester, | S.C, . Three grandchildren also sur- 1 vive. The funeral service was con ducted by Dr. S. M. Hughes, as- . sisted by Dr. Smoot Baker, Rev. T. W.
