Mr. and Mrs. James Leroy Teague announce the engagement of thetr daughter, Lula Mae, to Wayne Cleveland Church, of Bessemer City, ?on of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Cleveland Church, of Wilkesboro. Mayes was hostess Tuesday night to the Twin-Table bridge club and other guests to make up three tables. With au tumn appointments emphasized in the tallies, tlie floral arrange ments and other decorative touch es a salad course served with cof fee alter the third progression were all in a prevailing party de sign. Mrs. Mayes prizes went to Mrs. J. H. Patterson, who scored high est, Mrs. E. W. Griffin whose score was second highest. Mrs. M. H. Blser ?nd Miss Helen Hay re ceived prises for third high and low score. Mrs. C. T. Carpenter Jr., Mrs. C. E. Warllck, Mrs. M. H. Biser, Mrs. L. A. Hoke, Mrs. J. H. Pat terson and Miss Helen Hay were special guests of the hostess. Patty Huffstetler Honored With Dinner Patty Huffstetler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Huffstetler, was honored with a chicken sup per Saturday on her ninth birth day. . Those present for the occasion were: Mrs. Forrest Huffstetler, Mrs. Mary Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Huffstetler,. Mrs. Helen Carpenter and sons, Johnny and Steve, Misses Margaret and Iva Mae Huffstetler. The honoree received many nice gifts. Methodist Circle Meets With Mrs. Mayes Circle No. 3 of Central Metho dist church met Monday night with Mrs. H. C. Mayes. Mrs. M. K. Puller conducted the devotion al, Mrs. Paul Hendricks gave the program on South America. Mn. J. H. Arthur presided over the business, plans were discus sed for the Christmas season. Delightful refreshments were served to the eleven members during the social hour following the meeting. Lewis, Jr. A wedding of widespread soci al interest was solemnized on Saturday evening at the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church in Chester, S. C., when Miss Fran ces McElwee Oates of Chester ex changed marriage vows with Kelly Lewis, Jr., of Gastonia. The Rev. Arthur M. Rogers read the ritual. Given in marriage by her. fa ther, the bride wore a gown of white duchess satin designed with sweetheart neckline, snug bodice, and long fitted sleeves. Loose pleats which accented the full skirt widened at the back to form en aisle-wide train, and the train length veil of imported illusion was worn with a cap of seed pearls. Her flowers were bride's roses and lilies of the valley in a cascadr bouquet which was cen tered with a purple-throated white orchid. Mrs. Dan Herlong of Johnson, S. C., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Jean Alice Lewis, sister of the bride groom, and Mrs. Harry Jenkins, Jr., of this city; Miss Ola Matlock of Chester, and Miss Bess Mac Aulay, of Georgetown, S. C. Their gowns were graceful models in fuchsia net over taffe ta, and they carried spray or chids in ring-shaped bouquets. J. R. BradshaW of Gastonia was best man, and ushers were Jesse H. Oates, Jr., Robert Hay good, Harry Jenkins, Jr., Law rence Davis, and William C. Jumper of this city, and J. W. Reid, Jr., of Lowell. Following the ceremony a handsomely appointed reception was held at the home of the bride's aunt, Miss Jennie M. Oates, In Chester. Mrs. Lewis is the daughter of Mr: and Mrs. Jesse Havries Oates. She is a graduate of Win throp College, Rock Hill, S. C., and has been a member of the faculty of Arlington School here for the past two years. Mr. Lew la is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kelly Lewis. He was graduated from the local high school and Wake Forest College; played major league baseball with the Washington Sentors, and served with the U. S. Air Force in World War n, seeing service in India. He now operates Lewis Motors of Gastonia. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Lewis will be at home on Pos ton Circle. f Mr. Lewis was coach of Kings Mountain's American Legion baseball team In 1950. Circle To Have Pie And Cake Sale A cake and pie sale will be held Saturday morning at Kee ter'a store by Clscle No. 6, Cen tral Methodist church. CELEBRATE BIRTHDAYS? Paul Kemp Ledford, left above, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Led ford of route 1 celebrated his first birthday Tuesday, November 13. Jerry Franklin, big brother will be three years old December 9. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Ledford. of Vale, route 1 and Mrs. Sara Howell, Kings Mountain route 2. Sub-District To Have Li'l Abner Banquet A L.1'1 Abner banquet will be held by the Gastojda Sub-District of the MYF next Tuesday evening at Main Street Methodist Church at 7 o'clock, tickets to be sold Sunday morning at $1.00 plate. Each church is to elect a Li'l Ab ner and a Daisy Mae to represent them at the banquet and compete for the costume prize. Election is being held at a penny a vote, with a prize to the church raising the raost money. All young people are | asked to dress as Dogpatch Char acters. An old-Fashioned square dance will follow the supper. A November banquet is an annual! affair for the Sub-District meet ing of the Methodist Youth Fel lowship. Entre Nous Club Meets In Mayes Home The Entre Nous bridge club met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. H. C. Mayes. The party rooms were charmingly arranged with large bouquets of various kinds of autumn flowers. Autumn tallies added color and at refreshment time, a salad plate with molded red cranberry salad, cheese biscuits on autumn leaves and other party accessor ies was served with coffee. Prizes were presented Mrs. B. S. Neill and Mrs. W. W. Tolleson for scoring highest and second highest. Mrs. I. G. Patterson was the only guest other than club mem bers, to share the delightful hos pitality. ? Mrs.' Cooper Is ( Monday Hostess W Mrs. J. M .
