% Mr*. P. D. Herndon, Editor Study Club Meets With Mr*. A. Mauney Bright red berries and yellow ' chrysanthemums In attractive holders greeted members of the Study Club when they met Tues day night with Mrs. Aubrey Mau ney. Mrs. W. T. Weir, newly elected president, opened the meeting with words of appreciation for the honor given her in selecting her as president. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the retiring secretary, Mrs. H. C. Mayes. Mrs. P. D. Herndon read the committees appointed by Mrs. Weir. In the absence of Mrs. L. A. Hoke, program leader for the month, Mrs. I. G. Patterson in troduced Mrs. Herman Camp bel who gave a most instructive talk on Art. Mrs. Campbell stat ed Art Is Life, from early morn ing we see art, our stoves, kitch en equipment, our furniture, clothes .our lawns, our homes are all designed by someone, 50 our life Is Influenced by art. Pic tures sketched and painted by members of Mrs. Campbell's art classes were shown. Phone 46 Miss Teague Honored With Party, Shower Miss Lula Mae Teague, Decem ber bride-elect, was the inspira tion of beautiful party Tuesday night when Mrs. F. R. McCurdy and Mrs. Timmon Hord enter tained at the McCurdy home. Upon arrival, Miss Teague was presented a corsage nosegay of yellow chrysanthemums tied with white ribbon. Guests receiv ed miniature yellow and white nosegays. Flowers used to deco rate the dining and living room were also arrangements of yel low chrysanthemums. -- Appropriate games and con tests in the bridal motif were played and prizes were awared to. the Winners, At the sound of a car horn, Ruth McCurdy appeared dressed for a' trip at which time she ask ed Miss Teague to check the lug gage. When the luggage was opened the gaily decorated pack ages revealed a lingerie shower for the honoree. The yellow and white color theme was emphasized In the at tractive refreshment plates. Yel low ice cream, .molded as wed ding bells, individual cocoanut cakes, and Russian tea was ser ved to the 18 guests present. Yellow plastic wedding bells were given as favors. Mrs. G. W. White Circle Hostess The Raehael Humphries Circle of the Second Baptist church met Monday night with Mrs. G. W. White, with 9 members and one visitor present. The meeting was opened with a song followed with prayer by Mrs. Ethel Kir*by. Mrs. John Gladden read the scripture les son. Mr*. B. R. Tate gave a very interesting talk on "Training the Child". Others taking part on the program were Mrs. Houston Smith, Mrs. Emmie Benfield, Mrs. G. W. White and Mrs. Frank Ware. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. J. H.Carroll. The hostess assisted by her niece and grandson served iced colas. The Walter Harmon's Fete Bridge Club Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harmon were hosts Friday night to mem bers of the young Couples Club and two additional guests, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McDaniei. Arrangements of roses were featured in the living room, or chid chrysanthemums in the den and yellow mums in the dining room. Four tables were placed for bridge and after the progres sions when scores were counted high for ladies was held by Mrs. Charles Neisler. Gentleman's high and also the floating prize went to Charles Neisler. A dessert plate with coffee, was served after the progressions. i The J. A. Rolston's Party Hosts Saturday Striking arrangements of yel low chrysanthemums were used by Mrs. J. A. Rolston Saturday night to add a colorful note to her home when she entertained at bridge and canasta. Guests In cluded members of the Little Theatre. Prior to the games cookies and cokes were served. The party was in the nature of a Farewell as Mr. Rolston left Slinday for State College where he will be professor of Metallur gy After the games, sandwiches, individual cocoanut cakes and coffee were served. Tuesday Bridge Club Met With Mrs. Dilling The home of Mrs. Charles Dil ling was gaily decorated with chrysanthemums and outumn leaves when she racertaln ed metnbers of the Tuesday af ternoon Bridge Club at her home on King street. Grove com munity was the scene of a pretty reception Sunday afternoon when the children of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Lovelace honored them on their 50th wedding an niversary. The home was decorated ap propriately for the fxaslon with a beautiful arrangement of white chrysanthemums on the piano in the living room and oth er vases and bowls of yellow mums were used very effectively In the living room, den and din ing rooms. The dining table was covered with a white linen cloth w!th a three-tiered wedding cake iced in white and yellow used as a centerpiece with crystal can delabra holding lighted yellow candles oit either side. A low bowl of yellow chrysanthemums was used on one end of the table and the crystal punch bowl on the other. On arrival the guests were greeted by two granddaughters, Mi% Menzell Phlfer and Mrs. De wltt Randall. The receiving line was headed by Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Ware who Introduced the hon ored couple. Others receiving were Mr. and Mrs, Will Watter son, Mr. and Mrs. Culp Ford, Mr, and Mrs. William Wright, Mrs. Elam McSwain, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Lovelace and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bell. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ware in vited the guests to register in the den where the gifts were dis played. Mr. and Mrs. Buford Ware were In charge of the gifts. Mrs. W. F. Stone, Jr., served punch, cake squares, decorated In white and yellow, .nuts and mints were served by Mrs. Leo Beattie, Mrs. Stokes Wright, Mrs. D. A. Phillips, Mrs. J. S. Ware, Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Lovelace Honored1 Sunday On Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary Fred Greene and Miss Joan Ford. Mrs. Lovelace was becomingly attired in a two-pleos dress of black silk and wore a corsage of yellow rosebuds at her shoul der, Mr. and Mrs. Lovelace have two children. Mrs. F. C. Ware and Mrs. Will Watterson, who with their husbands and a foster son, Culp Ford, and Mrs. Ford were hosts for the occasion. Mrs. Lovelace was Miss Mar tha Belt before her marriage. She and Mr. Lovelace were married by the late Rev. J. C. BUmton on November 17, 1901. Lottie Moon Circ'e Meets With Mrs. Clary The Lottie Moon Circle of the Second Baptist church met with Mrs. J. C. Clary Monday night. Rev. Jake Throneburg gave an interesting program on "Train ing A Child In The Way It Should Go.". Mrs. Johnnie Chaney opened the meeting with prayer espe cially remembering the boys iri service. Mrs. -I. W. Ledford and Mr. Throneburg offered prayers re memberlng the boys In the min istry and the girls studying to be missionaries, after which Mrs. Clary, assisted by Mrs. Clyde Connor, served refreshments. Plilathea Class Have Dinner Meeting The Philathea Class of Grace Methodist church met Monday night in the home of Mrs. J. E. Mauney for their annual Thanksgiving dinner. 15 mem bers were present. After the dinner Miss Faye Caldwell presented a Thanks giving program followed with several games for the group. A. R. P. Circle Met With Mrs. J. E. Gamble The Mary Kenedy Circle of the ARP church met Monday night with Mrs. John Gamble. The program and devotional were conducted by Mrs. N. M. Farr. The program was a quiz based on the history of Thanks giving offerings in the society. A poem, "Thanksgiving Medi tation" was read by Miss Lola Beatty. Mrs. Martin Harmon dis cussed, Erskine Seminary, Our Responsibility. Mrs. Pride Ratter ree discussed, The Candler Road Church of Brookhaven, Ga. The meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. W. L. Press ly. After a short business session the hostess served refreshments. Willis announced the club was planning a benefit . bridge, rook and canasta party Tuesday night November 27. The club has been asked to give $100 for Korean Relief, the money re alized from the party will go for this cause. The meeting was closed with singing the club hymn. Patrica Foster Feted With Birthday Party Miss Patricia Ann Foster, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Foster, celebrated her 11th birth day anniversary Tuesday.
