Kings Mountain Recorder's court levied fines arid court costs amounting to $7,940.40, according to a re port of C. E. Carpenter, clerk of ?court. There were 685 cases called for trial and of this number 577 drew convictions. Twenty-foil were dismissed or found not guil ty, 11 were sent to Superior court and live were appealed Seven de fendants requested ii lal by jury and prayer for Judgment was con tinued in 14 cases. One defendant was bound over to Superior Court on a man slaughter charge while 14 counts were nol prossed and three were nol prossed with leave. Five cases were sent to Juvenile court for trial and one defendant was tried for violation of the Compulsory school law. ? ? . Other cases called were: carry ing concealed weapon, 9;. aban donment and non -support, 8; non support, 8; assault with deadly weapon, 17; simple assault, 10; driving drunk, 16; driving with out a driver's license, 23; reck less driving, 18; hit .and run, 6; il legal possession of non-tax-paid whiskey, 27; illegal possession tax:paid whiskey, 8; illegal pos session tip boards, 1; transport ing, 1; larceny, 7; temporary lar ceny, 1; interfering with fire dc partment. 1; interfering with an officer, 1; using profane, and in decent language, 2; attempted as sault with deadly weapon, 2; dis posing of mortgaged property, 2; worthless checks, 7; malicious damage to property, 3, illegal possession of firecrackers. 2; fail ure to pay taxi fare. 5; vagrancy. 2; minor traific violations, 28. Parking meter violations cur ing the year 1951. totaled 1,930 ac cording to a report of Officer J; O. Thompson. The one dollar fine was paid by 492 and the remain ing 1.-J38 were cancelled for va rious reasons or the perpetrators failed to report to the police de partment.
