Lovely arrangements of snap dragons from Mrs. Nelsler's greenhouse with an assortment' ,pf other cut flowers were used to enhance the spacious home. . When scores wefe counted at the end of play, Mrs. George Lat tlmore was awarded high score prize for the club members. Mrs. C. D. Blanton was winner, lot the non-members. Miss Diana Gamble leader- of the Y. W. A. Girls, assisted by several girls presented a very interesting program. Those tak ing part were Malorie Tessener. Joan Bridges. Real values at this wonderful money saving price. 1 Study Club Meets With Mrs. O. W. Myers The February meeting oi the Study Club was held Tuesday night with Mrs. O. W. Myers. An assortment of colorful spring flowers profusely decorat ed the lovely home for the occa sion. A social half hour was en Joyed before the meeting. The hostess was assisted in serving a congealed salad course, and other accessories and coffee. Passing ginger bread topped with whip ped cream and grated nuts. The gingerbread was made from a recelpe used by Mary Ball Wash ington, mother of George Wash ington. Mrs. W. T. Wey- gave a most interesting and informative pro gram on flat silver, telling of the origin of the sliver guild and how different patterns are made, how to select and care for silver. ?>ei llnger's Jewel Shop cooperated by, lending several patterns for display. They also sent a small silver spoon pin for each lady, matching her silver pattern. The program was closed with a rec ord, Rondo. A Melody In Silver, Mrs: R. D. Goforth and guest Miss Evelyn Morrow of St. Paul, Minn., were special guests. Mrs. Bud Goforth Honored With Miscellaneous Shower A miscellaneous shower was given by Misses Bernice Harrison and Peggy Clonirtger at the home of the former on Dilling street Tuesday night honoring Mrs. Bub Goforth, the former Miss Ruth Dettmar a bride of late summer who announced her marriage sev eral weeks: ago. Beautiful arrangements of jon quils were used in the party rooms Three progessions of bridal dice were played during the evening with Mrs. Gene Steffy as high scorer and Miss Cloninger was low score winner. A party plate, consisting of a fruit salad, sandwiches , and cheese balls, was served with cof fee. Nuts were also served dur ing the progressions. EL-Bethel-Bethware News (Mrs. Leonard Gamble) Rev. and Mrs. W. L. McSwaln spent this past Saturday visit ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawson ' Mills McSwain, near Earl. There were gathered toge ther members of this family to celebrate the 61st wedding anni versary of Mr. and Mrfc. McSwaln who have lived in that section all their married life. Rev. W. L. McSwaln Is recup erating from a nasal operation which he underwent this past week. He was able to attend his services last Sunday at David and Allen Memorial Baptist churches, but was assisted in the servioes at David by the Rev. J. J. Hicks who brought the mes sage at 11 o'clock, and at Allen Memorial he occupied the pulpit leading the congregation in an old fashioned prayer meeting. Family Night was observed in the David Baptist church 09 Wednesday ' evening, Feb. 20, This Is In the regular calendar of activities when entire famili es come together for graded study, worshfp -and planning. McSwaln has been asked to assist in tne ded ication of a new church building, James Cross Roads Baptist chur ch, of the South Yadkin Associa tion In Iredell county. He served for a number of years as pastor of this church when he served in that association for about years. He is expecting to comply with this request. Wade Ryan McSwain is now on tour with the choir of the Mu sic School of the Southern Bap tist Theological Seminary. The group Is on a two weeks tour down through Tennessee. Mis sissippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, etc. William Andrew McSwain, son of Mr. arid Mlrs. Luther R. Mc Swain, now a senior at Lenoir Rhyne is making arrangements to attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Louis | ville this fall. The J. E.
