Cherryvllle, bumping the Moun
taineers 53 to 45. Cherryvllle
swept the Western AA twin bill,
downing the local sextet 56 to 36
In the opener.
The defeat was the fifth in loop
starts. Coach Don Parker's five
play for the Mountaineers in 11
now must win both remaining

to stay In contention for one of
the four, spots in the tourney set
up.
Bill Beach paced a fast Cherry
ville attack in the Initial period
with 11 points to put the winners
ahead at the first turn 17-12 and
a tightening up of the defenses in
the second period netted a 28-19
lead at the half.
Kings Mountain out-scored the
winners 14-12 In the third canto
and almost matched the Ironmen
output in the final chapter but
tl.e damage had been done in the
first half.
Beach had 25 points to pace
Cherryvllle and Johnny Kiser hit
20 for Kings Mountain. Captain
Fred Tate bucketed 10 for the
losers.
' The Cherryvllle win gave the
two teams a split on the 1952- se
ries. Kings Mountain won the
first game 36-35 on a last-minute
free toss by Ollie Hariis, who
missed Friday night's meeting be
cause of illness,
Cherryvllle led 29-22 at the half
in the first game but the Kings
Mountain point production fell I
off during the final two chapters
as the winners attack kept roll
ing.
'Rachel Pharr paced the effort
with 23 points. Geraldine Barnett
had 15 to top Kings Mountain.
