I I "Frills And Fashions" Event Well Attended The Fashion Show sponsored by the Social Committee from the Country Club and given In the club house Tuesday night was well attended, not only by the peo ple of Kings Mountain but from Alanta, Charlotte, Gastonia, Bes semer City, Cherryville, York, Shelby and other surrounding towns. Mrs. Carl Biggers (Miss Char lotte) as commentator, in' her charming way capltivat<Hl the au dience, and from the first, the| showing of dresses and accesso ries by models from our own city was heartily received. Mrs. Big gers was assisted by Miss Ann Parrish of Charlotte. The people in Kings Mountain are indebted to Mary Rice of Hamlet and Camden for bringing this Fashion Show and from com ments everyone is most apprecia tive and thoroughly enjoyed watching the models move through their paces showing. Flaring hamlines, Waistlines on the move both up and down, Necklines with new and Import ant lines, you saw a whole kalldl scope of colors ? some brilliant, some misty and subdued, you saw pure silks from the Orient, Strange test-tube fabrics; suits in English flannel, silk shantung, checks, doe flannel, calico dress prints, Plantation Prints, Coats of blue fleece, Heather tweed, dress es of crepe. "Rose printed, starch ed net with star dust, nylon or gandy and a whole world of won derful cottons. - Hats were large, small; flower ed. ribbon and veil trimmed, flow ers. gloves, kerchiefs and jewelry Shown with the different Cos tumes made you realize more than - ever, the important part they play with the well dressed lady, . HERALD PUBLISHING UO.USE Fubli^ert of KINGS MOUNTAIN 111' RALD Lovely Church Rites Unite Miss Lovelace, Mr; Harmon Sunday Miss Lillian Dolores Lovelace and WUUam Brunson Harmon, both of Kings Mountain, pledged marriage vows Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Davidls Baptist church in a ceremony marked by reverence and dignity. The Rev. C. C. Crowe, pastor of the bride at Oak Grove church, read the double ring ritual for the couple and was assisted by the Rev. W. L. McSwain, pastor of David's church. Two tall baskets of white glad ioli and three candelabra holding white tapers were arranged on the altar in front of a background of pine boughs and the altar rail was twined with ivy. Mrs. Juanita Warren was pia nist for the program of wedding music and Miss Pauline Hayes was vocal soloist. The bride, who came to the al tar on the arm of her father, made a pretty picture in her wed ding gown, which was a Maurer original of Chantilly lace over slipper satin, fashioned with fit ted bodice and off-shoulder neck line filled in with sheer yoke and outlined with appliqued lace med allions. The long pointed sleeves were finished with narrow lace frills over the hands and the full skirt was ballerina length! Her i shoulder length veil of illusion fell from a Juliet cap Of Chantilly lace embroidered with seed pearls; she wore a singfe strand of pearls given to her by the bridegroom; and her bouquet was a white orchid posed on a white Bible. Miss Martha Jo Randall attend ed the bride as maid of honor and Caralyn Lovelace, sister of the bride, and Joyce Allen, cousin of the bridegroom were junior bridesmaids. The bridal attendants wore dresses of pastel organdy with the honor maid in mint green arid the junior bridesmaids in yellow; with her green gown, the honor maid carried a nosegay of yellow flowers and the junior attendants carried nosegays of white flowers nestled in fluffs of yellow maline. The girls' dresses were made alike with fitted bodices, -off-shoul der necklines and full, ballerina length skirts, and each of them wore a bandeau headdress to match her gown. Flay Harmon of Shelby, uncle of the bridegroom, was his best man and Wilbur Lovelace of Gas tonia, cousin of the bride, and Everett Patterson of Kings Moun tain were ushers. The bride's mother wore a navy blue suit with white and navy ac cessories and a corsage of red roses and the bridegroom's moth er wore a grey suit with pink and black accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The bride, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lovelace of Kings Mountain, is a graduate of Bethware high school and has been employed by the Dixie Home store in Gastonia for the past year. The hridegroom is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Har mon of Kings Mountain, who for merly resided in Shelby, is a grad uate of Shelby high school, and is now engaged in poultry farming near Kings Mountain. After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Harmon left for a wedding (rip through the mountains of western North Carolina ana Ten nessee and when they return will be at home with the bridegroom's parents. Mrs. Sam Hamrick Hostess To Auxiliary The American Legion Auxiliary met last Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Sam Hamrick with Mrs. C. L Jolly as co-hostess. Spring flowers were used in the decorations. Mrs. Hal Ward, president, call ed the meeting to order with the salute to the flag. During the business session, a rummage sale was planned for Saturday, April 12. The hostesses served Japanese fruit cake with Russian tea dur ing the social hour. Mr. and Mrs. Will. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mickle White. The group sang all four stanzas of "We've a . Story to Tell to the Nations". Wilson both of Kings Mountain, were married Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock In a simple but beautiful wedding held in the First Baptist church. Rev. T. L. Cashwell, Jr., pastor of the bride, officiated, using the impressive double- ring ceremony. A program of nuptial music was furnished by Miss Barbara Gault. organist and B. S. Peeler, Jr., soloist. Mlsi Gault played, "Clair de Lune" by Debussy, "Al ways" and "To A Wild Rose" by McDowell as the pledges were made. Mr. Peeler sang, "Because" by d'Hawrdelot and "The Lord's Prayer" by Malotte and was sung as the benediction. The traditional wedding marches were used. * Ushers were Jack Patterson and Don Glass. The bride was very striking in . a Royal blue suit with which she used white accessories and a white orchid shoulder corsage. Mrs. Wilson is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grler Slpes, the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C.
