Barnes entertained members of the Study club and additional guests Tuesday night at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Mauney. The home was very attractive with Easter llllles, roses, pansies and dogwood. Mrs. W. T. Weir presided over the routine business. Mrs. Paul Mauney, program leader for the month presented Mrs. Wayne Shutt who delighted the group with an- informal talk on her 14 years spent In Panama, giving some highlights of her trip there as a nurse sent by the U. S. While there she met and married Mr. Shutt. Interesting phases of life there were discussed and at ^the close of her talk all asked ^Buestlons which were graciously ?^^inswered. ? An ice course carrying out the spring color motif was served. Mrs. M. K. Fuller, Mrs. Ruth Beam and Miss Alice Averitte were invited to share the hospl talitv Methodist Circle Meets With Mrs. Pat Tignor Circle Number Four of Cen tral Methodist church met Tues day night at the home of Mrs. Pat Tignor with Mrs. M. C. Pos ton as co-hostess. Mrs. Ralph Mauney gave the Free Fishing! Saturday. April 19 at Hughes Lake Just Opening For The Season Methodist Youth Have Easter Program The Senior MYF had a special Easter program Sunady morning honoring college students of the class who were home, using the new slide and film strip projector which was donated to the church school by B. S. Peeler, Jr., and which was operated by Bill Brid ges. Four slides in lull color from "Christ and the Fine Arts" were used; "Behold the Man", "The Crucifixion", "The Entombment", and "Peter and John Running to the Tomb", with explanations by the teacher, accompanied by soft music on the piano by Barbara Gault. Over 30 were present. As a worship center, a white cross with a calli lily in the cen ter was placed on a table covered with a new white cloth. On either side were lighted candles sur rounded by green ferns. Candles were used at the piano and on the lecturn' which was at the back. Palms flanked the1 screen, and Easter lilies and lilacs were used in the room. Following the program, pic tures of the group were made in the classroom by Mr. Carlisle. A special meeting of members of the Sr. MYF who are not grad uating this year will be held prior to the evening meeting Sunday, to lay plans for a banquet In May honoring graduates. Miss Dorothy Hayes is adult advisor to this committee, and Buddy Mayes is Chairman with Shirley Falls as Co-chairman. devotional, using verses 28 thru 32 of the 16th chapter of John, and closing with a prayer. A most interesting program was presented by Mrs. A. H. Pat terson on the study of flowers taken from the 'book "Voiceless Lips." Mrs. Hilliard Black had charge of the business. Mrs. Frances Henderson had charge of the business meeting. Following the business, games and contests were enjoyed with Mrs. Ola Blanton and Mrs. Helen Haynes of G&stonla as winners. Miss Sptvey is a graduate of the local high school and has attended Ringling Art School for the past four years. Mr. Martin attended school in Pitts burg, Pennsylavia and served three years in the Kavy. Mrs. Hugh Ormand Tuesday Ciub Hostess The Tuesday afternoon bridge club met this week at the Coun try Club with Mrs. Hugh Ormand as hostess. Tables were arranged in one of the front parlors which was profusively decorated with a va riety of spring blossoms. Mrs. Sam Davis received visi tors high prize, Mrs. W. L. Ram seur held high score for club , members. Mrs. C. D. Blanton, Mrs. L. E. Abbott, Mrs. Johnnie Smathers and Mrs. Sam Davis were special guests for the meeting. A fruit salad plate and sand | wiches was served. Miss Fulton Hostess To Methodist Circle Miss Winifred- Fulton was hos tess to Methodist Circle No. 6 Tuesday night at her homo on Mountain street. Pansies, splrea, and lilacs gave the home a spring elfeCt. "Fruit of the Spirit", a devo tional, was presented by Miss Grace Davis, who also read ail article, "Hands", as the program. Following the business session, the hostess served cliocalate cake and coffee to the nine present. A period of fellowship conclud ed the meeting, Mrs. Simpson Fetes Duplicate Club Mrs. J. B, SlmpSon was hostess at Glenbrook Monday afternoon entertaining members of the Du plicate Club and two additional guests, Mrs. Dan Finger and Mrs. J. C. McGill. Colorful spring flowers, in mix ed shades made an effective set ting for the three tables arranged for bridge. .At the conclusion of the play top score prize was awarded Mrs. Dart Finger. Mrs. Sam Davis re ceived second high. A congealed salad course was served with tea. The sweet '.-ourse, was strawberry short cake and tyeam. '? ~ Mrs. Harmon's Pupils Give Piano Recital Piano pupils of Mrs. -Martin Harmon were presented in recital last Thursday afternoon at her home on Mountain street. Sue Hunnicutt played "Old Black Jo<5", by Stephen Foster; James Swanson played "Dancing on the Dyke" and Erb's "The Um brella Man"; Dick Hunnicutt played Beethoven's "Two Country Dances". Following the recital, Mrs. Har mon served refreshments to the pupils and guests.
