Miss Peggy Mauney, Junior at

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey
Mauney, was recently Initiated
into Amlcron Nu, national home
economics honor society.
Students eligible for member
ship were Junior home economics
majors who rank in the upper
fifth of the majors In their class,
and seniors who rank In the upper
fourth. .
Miss Mauney was also elected
secretary of Inter-Faith Council
at VVCUNC for the year 1952-53.

A large crowd attended the an
nual Husband'* night covered
dish dinner and Art Exhibit Fri
day night at the Woman's club.
Mrs. Jay Patterson welcomed
the husbands and guests. A boun
tiful dinner was enjoyed, alter
which all assembled up stairs for
the meeting and to observe the
art exhibit.
Mrs. I. G. Patterson, presented
Mrs. Herman Campbell who was
in charge of the program and
exhibit. Mrs. Campbell stated the
purpose of the Woman's club
sponsoring the art exhibit was to
iurther culture In the growing
minds of the children and young
people of Kings Mountain. Mrs.
Campbell introduced Jack Moss,
bass soloist, who won an excel
lent rating recently in the Dis
trict meeting in Charlotte who
sang, "Bells of the Sea". Marie
Cobb gave a reading, "At the
Employment Agency" which she
won the Schoolmasters medal
recently at Gardner-Webb col
lege. Several numbers were given
by the girl's trio of the high
school, Delores Davidson, Melba
Tindall and Evelyn Cllne.
The three ladles who judged
the art exhibit were introduced,
Mrs. Clarence King and Mrs.
Wilbur Wilson of Shelby arid
Mrs. J. G. Reading of G&stonia.
Work was exhibited by the Pri
mary, Grammar and High school
pupil 8 and was Judged In three
classifications, 1 ? Black and
White: 2 ? Crayon and Chalk: 3
? Paint and Crafts. In each classi
fication first, second, 'third and
honorable mention were made.
The pupils of Mrs. Herman
Campbell exhibited their work
for the past year In the lounge of
the club. Their work was not In
competition with the work of the
school children.
The exhibit was opened to the
public on Saturday and Monday
and large crowds came each day
to view the work of the children.
Queen Of Clubs Meet
With Mrs. W. Harmon
Members of the Queen of Clubs
met Monday night with Mrs. Wal
ter Harmon.
The living room, den and din
ing rooms were thrown ensulte
and lavishly decorated with roses,
violets, Iris and lilacs.
Score prizes were awarded Mrs.
Jimmy Splvey and Mrs. A. A.
Lackey, Jr.
Mrs. Harmon was assisted in
serving strawberry short cake
and iced tea.
The club members took this oc
casion to present Mrs. Harmon
with a surprise shower.

patch with a baby face in the cen
ter.
Games and contests were the
entertainment feature of the
evening with prizes being award
ed Mrs. Lewis Falls and Mrs. D.
Fayseur.
Little individual cakes with a
stork, pink and white block
cream and iced drinks were serv
ed.
