ested In securing Softball teams
from the Kings Mountain area.

Funeral services lor Mrs. Mary
N. Gamble Fuller, of Bessemer
City, grandmother of Mrs. Hoyle
Mabry, were held Tuesday after
noon at 3 p. m. at Garrison Me
morial ARP church in Bessemer
City.
Dr. J. W. Carson, pastor, assist
ed by Rev. L. P. Knox, pastor of
Second ARP church of Gastonia,
and Rev. Earl Armstrong, pastor
of the Gospel Tabernacle in Gas
tonia, officiated. Interment was
in Bessemer City cemetery.
Mrs. Fuller died at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Loster R.
Beam Sunday morning.

l^&rrison Memorial ARP church
Md. was the widow of C. W. Ful
who died in 1929.

ters, Mrs. Beam and Mrs. Roy D.

Set To Open May 5

The post is now conducting a
drive for funds, to operate the Ju
nior baseball program. Quota

not been reached..
Sponsorship of a team this
summer will depend on the out
come of the fund drive, with the
post having gone .on record to
sponsor the team provided funds
are subscribed. The fund drive
was necessitated because of the
post's current heavy indebted
ness on a building program.
All boys born In 1935 or after
are being urged to report for the
drill Saturday. Interest among
the players will also have a de
ciding effect on the final decis
ion to sponsor a team, officials

an engineering course at Camp
Lejuene and is now attached to
shore partly.
He has reported to Camp Pen
dleton, Calif., for futher assign
ment after spending a 30-day
leave with relatives.
Pfc. Cashion was called into
service on October 17, of last year
and took basic training at Parris
Island.
He was a senior at Newberry
college, S. C? where he was ma
joring in physical education. He
is married to the former Miss
Joyce Falls.

Two runs in the top half of the
ninth Inning gave Shelby's "B"
team an 8 to 6 victory over the
Kings Mountain "B" squad here
Monday afternoon. The game
was originally slated to be a ser.
i ven inning affair but it went the
extra innings.
Scoring in the first inning,
Shelby took a 1 to 0 lead only to
have the Mountaineers tie it up
and then gO ahead 2-1. From
then on It was nip and tuck with
Kings Mountain leading 6 to 4
going Into the sixth frame, when
Shelby tied It up at 6-6.

Mrs. Helen Ramsey Blanton,
teller at First National Bank,
observed on Wednesday her ten
th anniversary as a member of
the bank's organization.
Daughter of Mr; and Mrs. Carl
Ramsey, Mrs. Blanton joined the
bank on April 23, 1942, briefly on
a part-time basis as bookkeeper
and soon after as a full-time em
ployee. While on the part-time
basis, Mrs. Blanton served as
