Hamilton, pastor of the church, using the double ring ceremony. The bride and groom entered the church together. The bride. Is the. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Spivey of Kings Mountain, and the bride groom's parents are, Mr. and Mr*. Richard V. Martin of Sara sota, Fla. The altar was banked with white flowers. The bride wore a dress of white organdy, the full floor length skirt had a short train. Mrs. Splvey had chosen an Ice blue crepe with which she used black - accessories. Mrs. Martin was growned In gray with black accessories. Friday's bride is a graduate of the local high sc.iool and has at tended Rlngling Art School for the past four years. Junior Woman's Club Win Top Rating The Junior Woman's Club held their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening at 7:30 at the Woman's Club. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Bus Oates, Mrs. Billie Logan and Mrs. Rufus Oates. The meeting room was decorated with arrangements of larkspur, roses and sweet-peas. Each member was presented a minature corsage of sweetpeas. The Public Welfare Committee composed of Mrs. Grady McCar ter and Mrs. Bus Oates was in charge of the program. Mrs. Leo la Byerly, of the Social Security Agency in Gastonla presented a movie and made remarks about the new phase of the Social Secu rity program. Mrs. Aubrey Mauney who has been Senior sponsor for the Jun ior Club for the past three years was presented a gift from the club in appreciation of her work. Mrs. Bert Chandler announced final plans for the "Fashion Fro lic" on May 23, 1952. It was announced that the club had won a 100% rating at the State convention in Winston Salem and also won third place on the year book. An auction sale was held foil lowing the business meeting. Juniors Entertained For Senior Cless Highlighting the social affairs of last week was the Junior -Sen ior banquet held Friday night in the school cafeteria. The theme for the banquet was Southern Homes. Across one end of the cafeteria was built to rep resent a Colonial mansion, from this the meal was served by girls of the . sophomore class dressed as very young girls with short dresses and ribbons in their hair. Spanish moss, wisteria and Pa panete lanterns were used to en hance the setting for the tables which were placed on the lawn of the home. Marking each place was a colored cotton picker. The waitresses were Annie Mobley Dilllng, Nora Jane Deese, Patsy Goforth, Lola Ann Spake, Janice Allen, Lee Jackson, Lossie Lynch, Patty Patton, Betty Connor and Nora Lee Slpes. The memi ? Circle To Meet In Shelby Prayer Services Members of the- western dis trict of the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle In North Caro lina will hold their district con vention May 10, in the Shelby Woman's Club House. Nearly two hundred delegates are expected to register begin ning at 1:00 p. m. with members of Ivy Grove 193 afe hostesses. The convention will get under way at 2:00 p. m. The Shelby Drill team, captained by Mrs. Ruby Jones, will present distin guished national officers who will address delegates. Miss Blanche Eakin, Omaha, Nebras ka, national treasurer of the Woodmen Circle and past state manager in North Carolina, will be guest speaker. Mrs. Ethel Don aldson, present state manager, will also speak. Mrs. Mae Blan ton, Ellenboro, is district captain. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Neisler, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Pollard of Durham attended the Kentucky Derby Saturday in Louisville. Other highlights of the con vention will be the barbecue and square dance to which the pub lic is invited. The barbecue, start ing at 6:30 p. m., will be held in the Recreation Center. Judge Barrlngton T. Hill will be toast master and will introduce Mr. Max B. Hurt, Omaha, Nebraska, national vice president of the Woodmen of the World. The Woodmen Circle has Just completed sixty years of frater nal service. In that period the sp clety, which offers membership to women and girls only, has paid benefits of more than 65 million dollars. Headquartering in Oma ha, Nebraska, the organization currently lists asset of more than 48 million dollars. Mrs. Lue V.
