Former Resident M. L. Aderholdt Dies In Hickory Funeral services for Marcus Lafayette Aderholdt, 81, a former Kings Mountain citizen and bro ther of J. E. Aderholdt, were held Sunday afternoon at Holy Trinity Lutheran church In Hickory. The pastor. Rev. Hugo Dress ier, conducted the rites, and buri al was in Oakwood cemetery. Mr. Adafholdt died early Satur day morning in a Hickory hospi tal, following an Illness of several weeks. Mr. Aderholdt. who was one of the founders of Henry River Man ufacturing Co., was born in the St. Mark's section of Gaston County Dec. 11, 1871. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Aderholdt. His marriage to Mrs. Aderholdt took place Oct. 14, 1893. A member of the State Board of Agriculture, Mr. Aderholdt al To served for manp years as In 1945 Mr. Aderholdt sold his farm and moved to Hickory. Mr.' Aderholdt had engaged In textile manufacturing and merchandis ing before moving to Davidson County. Surviving Mr. Aderholdt are his widow, the former Miss Em ma Gertrude Carpenter of Gas ton County, and the following children; Mrs. Glenn R. Frye< Miss Mabel and Miss Alleen Ader holdt of Hickory; Mrs. E. C. Byerly of Lexington. Mrs. M. P. Byerly of Baltimore. Md., and Dr. Marcus L. Aderholdt, Jr.. a prac ticing physician at High Point. Brothers and sisters surviving,, in addition to J. E. Aderholdt, are Mrs. M. V Rudislll. Rock Hill, S. C., Mrs. M. . R. Rudislll, Henry River, W. A. Aderholdt, Charlot te, Mrs. Frank Moose, Henry River, Dr. O. W. Aderholdt, Sails bury, F. C. Aderholdt, Hickory, A. E. Aderholdt, Llncolnton, C. H. Herndon and Mrs. Per ry McSwain acting as Joint hos tesses. Miss Brashears had charge of the demonstration on "Bedroom?": The group voted to send some cards to the veterans hospital at Oteen. After the busi ness and the demonstration the hostess*- served sandwiches, cookies, pickles, potato chips and tea to the large group present. The club Will meet next month with Mrs. Earl Morris. The Men's Progressive ClUh met Tuesday night at the school lunch room for a supper meeting. Beth-Ware P. T. A. members fur nished the picnic supper. The fourth grade of Beth-Ware, accompanied by Mrs. Bryon Hord, teacher and several moth ers, spent Thursday in Charlotte vlsitig the park and the airport. The children enjoyed seeing in side of the large airplanes. Class night was presented at Beth-Ware High School Friday night. The group sang their class song, gave the superlatives of the group, read the class poem and prophecies together with the class history. Several special so los were presented. The annual music recital was held Thursday night with around 35 pupils reciting under the di rection of Mrs. T. E, Jackson. Sunday night at 8 o'clock the Baccalaureate Service was held in the high school audjtorium with a full house attending. A hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy" was sung by the congregation. Scrip ture and prayer was given by Rev. C. C. Crow of Oak Grove. A solo given by Miss Dorothy Patterson, "Leave It With Him". The sermon was delivered by Rev. R. L. Forbis, pastor of El Bethel church. A closing solo. "The Lord's Prayer" by Luthur McSwain, Jr. Commencement ex ercises were held Monday night at 8:00 p. m. with the invocation given by Frances Bridges, a song, "Others" by a girls trio. The Salutation was given by Luthur McSwain, Jr. Bobby Hus key Introduced the speaker, J. Horace Grigg, a solo Was then sung by Luthur McSwain, Jr. Val edictorian was given by Freda Brown. After this program the presentation of awards and di plomas was presented by J. H. Rudisell, principal. Seniors graduating were,- Hazel Iieaty, Frances Bridges. Freda Brown, Thelma Doves. Lois Short, Margaret Goforth, Betty Lou Hovis, Louise Wright, Ro bert Green, Brunson Harmon, Lawerence Henson, Bob Huskey, Hicks Jones. Marvin Ledbetter. George Lovelace, William Mayes, Luthur McSwain, Jr., Arshel San ders, Kenneth Spencer, Bob Ware. John Yarbro. Marshalls for the occasion were: Irvin McSwain, Jane Go forth, Betty Williams and Bob by Morris. Mascots were: Freda Allison and Darrell Leonhart. Will Williams has returned from the hospital after an opera tion. He is improving. S. army, who has been stationed at Shep phard air force base is home on leave before going to Travis air force base in California. Kenneth Gates of the U. S. army spent the week end here with his wife. He Is bn a short furlough before reporting for fur thur service. Sargeant J. C. Wise of Polk Field, S. C. and a buddy AJr. Lynn spent the week end here with Mr. Wise's parents, Mr., and Mrs. H. W. Wise. Sargeant Wise was re cently promoted from private to sargeant. Mr. and Mrs. Rome Horton's baby is real sick this week. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Swafford. Mr. and Mrs, Howard Swafford, and Mrs. Jack Eaker spent Sun day in the mountains. Mr, and Mrs. Ralph Eaker and daughter. Penny, spent the week end at Landrum, S. C. with Mr. and Mrs. Claude Plumbry, pa rents of Mrs. Eaker. Mrs. Wesley Clark returned home Saturday from the Shelby hospital. Mrs. M. C. Meal received a beautiful purple orchid last Week, shipped from Hawawi. She was nominated for WBT's Mother of the Hour on last Thursday's Curt Webster program. Odis Bidding of the U. S, Army is on a 10 day furlough here with his parents. 4H Club Sunday was observed at El-Bethel church Sunday. Seven members were on program, ?they were: Lois Gamble.
