Dinner Hostess
Mrs. George A. Morrow was a
delightful hostess Thursday]
night entertaining with a dinner
on the back lawn of her home. |
The table was in the shape of a
T. overlaid with colorful cloths.
On the short end of the table
were plates, glasses and ice tea.
The large platters of chicken and
ham, potato salad, tomato salad,
assorted pickles relishes different
kinds of cakes and other goodies
made a beautiful picture under
the spreading apple trees. Plates
were served and guests found
places in an arch under the green
Canopy.
At the conclusion of the meal,
Mrs. Wayne Love served lime |

Given In Neisler Home
Mrs. Joe Neisler and Mrs. Fred
Finger entertained with an in
formal coca-cola party at the
home of Mrs. Neisler Thursday
morning complimenting their
daughters, Mrs, Buck Timber
lake of New York and Mrs. Har
ry Warren of Roanoke, Va.
The home was arranged infor
mally for the occasion. The re
freshments were served from a
maple tavern table in the sun
room. Greenery was used artisti
cally about the room, iced cokes
were served from Hutch cup
board, colorful pottery trays held
cheese biscuits, sandwiches and
other party refreshments.
Approximately fifty guests en- 1
joyed the delightful occasion.

ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradford
Howies of Radford, Virginia announce the engagement of their
daughter, Beverly Ann, to Billy Freeman Throneburg, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Yates Freeman Throneburg of Kings Mountain. Miss
Bowles \vas graduated in June from Radford College, Woman's
Division of V. P. I. Mr. Throneburg was graduated from North Caro
lina State and is now employed at the Radford Arsenal. The wed
ding will take place August 9.

Club and the One-High rook club
Thursday night at their home on
West King Street. The attractive
home was a gracious setting for
the parties, adorned with a pro
fusion of beautiful cut flowers.
Tables were arranged in the
living rooms and den where love
ly bowls of roses, lads, daises, li
lies and other seasonal blooms
were decoratively placed.
Covers were laid when .guests
arrived and the tables were cen
tered with dainty little nosegays.
The hostesses were assisted in
serving a frozen cheese salad,
chicken salad sandwiches, peach
pickles, English wafers and iced
-tea. Pinapple meringue cake was
served for the dessert course.
Tallies were given out and four
progressions of rook played with
Mrs. J. C. Nicklesv receiving the
high score prize for visitors.
Mrs. B. S. Neill was the most%
successful player among the 'so-'
clal club members, with Mrs. I.
B. Goforth receiving low score
award.
In the One High prizes were
presented to Mrs. P. D. Ilerndon
and Mrs. Arthur Hay for scoring
highest and second high.

during the evening and at the
count of scores, high score was
held by Mrs. \y. S. Fulton, low
by Martin Harmon.
Colas and nuts were served
during the progressions.
