Fishing Areas To Be Acquired In setting up its budget lor the 1952-53 fiscal year, the Wildlife Resources Commission has ear marked funds which will make possible the purchase of tracts of land to give public access to fishing areas, Clyde P. Patton, Executive Director of the Com mission, announced today. "Although North Carolina ranks fourth in the nation In the amount of public fishing water," NEW KECOHD A total of 181 patients were admitted to Kings Mountain hospital during, the month of June, according to report of Joe Dixon, business manager. The patient load fqr the mon th set a new record, Mr. Dixon said. Patton said, "the problem of ac cessibility to the small boat own er is growing every year. "The trend during the past few years has been toward the pur chase of lands surrounding pub lic fishing waters by private In dividuals. This trend is increasing and it has worked a hardship on license buyers who must either trespass or pay a fee to gain ac cess to such waters." The Wildlife Commission plans to employ a fisheries expert who will canvass the public fishing waters of the state and who will be empowered to negotiate for the purchase of small tracts of land which will connect public highways or roads with bodies of water.
