C? son of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson Wood Jackson of Kings Mountain on Thursday, June the nlnteenth. at four thirty In the afternoon. The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. R. Dodd, uncle of the bride be fore an improvised altar of ivy> lighted tapers In candelabras and floor baskets of white gladioli, babys breath and fern. Mrs. Blackwell B. Evans of Richmond, pianist, and Miss Ma rian Barbour, soloist, presented a musical program which includ ed the Bridal Chorus from Lo hengrin by Wagner, Through the Years, Youmans, and I Love Thee, During the vows, Clair de Lune, was played. The bride, given In marriage by her father, wore a gown of white lace over Ice blue satin, the fit ted bodice was finished with a mandarin collar and long sleeves and a circular skltr. Her shoulder length veil of French illusion was attached to a julllet cap of mat ching lace caught at each side with orange blossoms. She car ried a prayer-book centered with a white orchid and showered with satin streamers tied with step hanotls and lily of the valley. Mrs. Robert Wilkersoh of Leaksvllle, her sister's matron of honor, wore a gown of white organdy over pale pink taffeta. Her headdress was of pale pink that of the bride and she carried a nosegay of mixed summer flo wers. Robert Jackson of Kings Moun tain was best man for his bro ther. The bride's mother wore aqua lace with brown and white ac cessories and a shoulder corsage of gardenias. The mother of the groom was attired In navy blue with matching accessories and a gardenia corsage. Following the ceremony a re ception was held. The dining room was decorated with arrangements of white snapdragons, babybreath and carnations. A three tiered wedding cake and lighted tapers in crystal holders centered the bride's table which was covered with an imported lace cloth. For travel, the bride wore a suit of white silk shantung with navy cuffs and collar fastened with a rhlnestone clip. Her acces sories were navy and white and she wore the white orchid from her prayer book, The . couple left for a northern wedding trip. The bride Is a graduate of Long wood college where she was a member of the Cotillion Club and Theta Sigma Upsilon, Social Sorority. The groom attended Yale Uni versity and was graduated from North Carolina State College. Miss Peggy Baker Honored With Party Friday Night Miss Peggy Baker, bride-elect of the month was the inspiration for a lovely bridge and rook par ty given Friday night by Mrs. Tommie Baker at the home of her parents', Mr. and Mrs. Byron I lord. A color hbte * of green and white was cleverly carried out'in the floral decorations, tallies and favors. Tables were appointed for refreshments, when all had as sembled places were fourid at the tables by minature white lace hats, green ribbon trimmed, with names across the crown. Green tinted- frozen Alaska was served with iced punch. Bridal tallies were drawn and places' found for the games. Mrs. J. B. Simpson scored highest in bridge with Mrs. L. E. Abbott re ceiving second high award. Mrs. L B. Baker was the most successful player In rook. Miss Baker was presented a nosegay Towne Club Elect New Officers and Members The Towne Club met Saturday night at Lake Montonia in the home of Shirley Houser with Don McCarter and Qllle Harris as hosts. During the business meeting new officers and new members were elected. The officers are: Bill Ruth, president; Shirley Hou ser, vice-president; Anne Dllling, secretary; Shirley Falls, treasur er. New members are, Lossle Lynch. She was also given a fork in her chosen silver pattern. Mre. Charles Mulwee of Mem phis and. Mrs. Don Blanton of Gastonia were out-of-town guests. Surprise Birthday Dinner Sunday Honoring R. H. Hord The children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs, R. H. Hord gathered at their home Sunday to celebrate the 72nd birthday anniversary of Mr. Hord. The gathering came as a sur I prise to Mr. Hord. At noon dinner was served buffet style from a bountifully filled table. Summer flowers were used to decorate the home for the family reunion. There were three sets of four generations present for the af fair. Children present were Mrs. R. P. Falls of Greensboro, Mrs. Earl Ledford, Kings .Mountain, Mrs. John Spencer of Winston Salem, Mrs. Ray Kirby of Char lotte, Rev. R. W. Hord of Vale, Robert O. Hord of Kings Moun tain, Arthur Hord of Concord came awhile Saturday night and Jerry Hord of Hickory was un able to attend on account of sick ness in the home. Grand children and great grandchildren Included, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Campbell and two sons of Durham, Mrs. Angetta Falls White and three sons of Rlverla, Calif., Mrs. Robert Roland Falls of Greensboro, her husband, Ro bert, called her from England on Monday, their first anniversary, Mrs. Sara Lowery and two sons of Birmingham, Ala. Rev. R. W.. Hord has completed his training at New Orleans and accepted the pastorate at Vale, N, Mrs. Arnold Kiser Fetes Fortnighters Bridge Club The attractive home of Mrs. Arnold Kiser was in festive mood Friday afternoon with arrange ments of gladiloi and daises when, her guests were members t>t the Fortiiighters Club and four addi tional guests. Tables were placed in the den and bridge played in progressions with Mrs. L. E. Abbott holding high score at the comparison of tallies. Assorted sandwiches and lemo nade were served during the pro gressions. . Those playing other than mem bers were Mrs. L. E. Abbott, Mrs. Hugh Ormand, Mrs. Amos Dean and Mrs. H. E. Lynch.. Mrs. J. B. Patterson Notes Birthday With Dinner Mrs. J. Bun Patterson celebrat ed her 70th- birthday on June 22, the occasion being marked by a gathering of friends and relatives at her home.
