Lynda Gail Herndon Celebrates Birthday Little Lynda Gall Herndon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Herndon of the Shelby Road was two years old Saturday and cele brated the event by playing hos tess to a number of her little lrtends In her own age group at a gala party. ' Sixteen of Lynda's little frlendn gathered for the event and were given balloons and suckers as fayors. Ice cream and cookies were served. Luncheon At Country Club Honoring Mrs. Chas. Mulwee Mrs. E. K. Whltner entertained with a prettily planned four course luncheon Friday at the Country Club honoring a sister, Mrs. Charles Mulwee of Memphis, Te'nn. who was a house guest. Lavender asters - and yellow glads were used In decorations. After luncheon sprltely conversa tion and "Old Times" were en joyed as the guests were all high school mates and had not been together for sometime. Those Bharlng the hospitality Included the honoree, Mrs, Mul wee, Miss Peggy Baker, bride elect, Mrs. Clarence Plonk, Mrs. Charlie Ballard, Mrs. Carl Wiese ner, Mrs. Dan Finger, Mrs. D. F. Hord, Jr., Mrs. Jlmmle Harris, Mrs. Bill Merrltt and the. hostess. Mrs. Whltner's gift to Mrs. Mul wee was an antique cup and sau cer and a piece of crystal to Miss Baker. Mrs. F. C. Barrett, Mrs. Walter Huffstlckler and Mrs. Lackey Navy left Tuesday for Dallas, Tex., where Mrs. Barrett will visit her son, Forrest S. Barrett. Cooper used arrange ments of gladlloi and daises on Monday afternoon when her gucols were members of the Dup licate bridge club. Mrs. G. F. Lattimore and Mrs. W. L. Ramseur were invited to play with the members. When scores were tallied, Mrs. G. F. Lattimore and Mrs. C. D. Blanton had tied for high score. Pre-Nuptial Courtesy Extended Miss Cash Miss Bernice Harrison and Miss Jean Cash Joined hospital ities Tuesday night to honor Miss Betty Cash, bride-elect with a miscellaneous shower at the Woman's Cluib. The club rooms presented a scene of summer beauty as dec orations appropriate to the sea son were used. Baskets of pink and white glads were used in the club foyer, in the lounge snap dragons and fern on occasional tables and a miniature bride was used on the desk. Tables were appointed for re freshments and when all guest* had assembled an Ice course of molded cream, individual torldal cakes, nuts and punch were ser ved. v The six talbles were rearrang ed for cards. The hostesses pre sented playing prizes to (Miss Pat Neisler for scoring highest in bridge, Miss Betty Cash re ceived the prize in canasta and Mrs. Darvin McCarter In rook. A shower of miscellaneous gilts were presented Miss Cash from the assembled group. The hostesses remembered Miss Neisler, bride-elect of early fall, with a gift. They also presented each of the honorees with cor sages of glamellas, to ' Miss Cash, pink and to Miss Neisler, yellow Mrs. Plonk Hostess To Home Arts Club Members of the Home Arts Club met Tuesday night with Mrs. Fred Plonk at her attractive new home on Crescent Circle, i; -. . Garden flowers with special emphasis on gladioli Were used about the spacious home. Mrs. W. E. Blakely presided over the routine business. Mrs. John Gamble gave a very inter esting and informative program on Raleigh, giving the history and telling of" the colleges and businesses. Mrs. Plonk was assisted in serving a frozen dessert course with individual cakes and cheese straws. Later the guests were in vited on the porch for a refresh^ ing cup of punch served by Mrs. Carl Mauney and Mrs, Clarence Plonk from a large crystal bowl on an attractively decorated table. Patti Steffy Is Honored On Her Fourth Birthday Little Patti Steffy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Steffy, cele brated her fourth birthday anni versary Monday afternoon and her mother entertained with a parly at their home on East King Street. When the children arrived they enjoyed playing games and hear ing a story told by Mrs. Steffy. Later in the afternoon they wore served ice cream anil cake the birthday cake was inscribed, "Happy Birthday l'atti". After the rain the children en joyed blowing bubbles in the yard from the jars of bubble soap given as favors. The party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ncill at Lake Montonla. A tempting dessert plate was served. Out-Door Barbecue Dinner Saturday At Country Club Club night Saturday night will be art out door-dinner. The hosts for the month are requesting reservations be made" by noon Thursday. Summer flowers were used as room decorations. At the count ol scores, it was revealed Mrs. John Cheshire held high score with Mrs. G. H. Maiyiey runner up for second high. When cards were laid aside the hostess was assisted In serving a salad and sweet course. Miss Peggy Baker and Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr., were special guests ol the hostess. Miss Baker was remembered with a gift from the hostess. Monthly Bridge Luncheon Held At Country Club Six tables of bridge were in play Wednesday at the Country Club at the monthly (bridge lun cheon. Griffin is spending a ten day leave at home enroute from Navy Techi nal Training Center in Memphis to Jacksonville, Fla. Mrs. H. S. Blackmer, Mrs. Nell Patrick, Mrs. O. C. O'Farrell and son, James O'Farrell returned home Sunday from Crescent Beach, where they spent several weeks. David Marlowe, son of Mr. and Mrs. E., E. Miss Muse And Mr. McMackin Pledge Vows In Pretty Church Wedding Sunday Miss Clarice Muse of Sandford, Florida and Sgt. W.L. McMackin. Jr., ol this city were united in marriage on Sunday June 22, at 6 o'clock in the First Presbyterian Church in Sanford. Rev. Angle* G. Mclnnls, pas tor of the church, heard the cou ple pledge the vo\Vs of the double ring ceremony. Conventional decorations pro vided a decorative setting for the wedding party. A program of wedding music was presented by the church or ganist, and Mrs. Mclnnls vocal soloist. i Given in marriage by her bro ther, Thomas Muse, the bride wore a gown of baby blue lace over satin. The bodice featured a high collar, short sleeves with a full floor length skirt, she wore long lace gloves. Her shoulder tip veil of illusion was worn with orange blossoms, and the carried a bouquet of white carnations. Corporal Vernon Moody of Or lando Air Force Base, Florida was best man. The bride's mother's gown was of beige lace, she wore a picture hat ".nd a corsage of carnations; the groom's mother wore a dress of rose linen lace, with a hat of nylon mesh trimmed in for-get me-nots and a carnation shoulder corsage. - Reception Immediately following the cere mony the bride's mother enter tained with a reception . at her home. Summer flowers were used to decorate the rooms. A tiered wedding cake, topped with bridal figurines which served aa part of the table decoration, was sur rounded with white gardenias. After' the bride and groom cut the traditional first piece, the cake was cut and served by Miss Maxine Butler of Orlando. Punch was served by Miss Ruth Mahon. Mrs. McMackin Is the daughter of Mrs. R. Muse and the late Mr. Muse of Sanford, Fla. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. McMakln of Kings Moun tain. Humes Houston, manager of Kings Mountain Drug Co, received a similar award several years ago. Mrs. Oate's Uncle Funeral Conducted Funeral rites for A. J. Edmis ton, of Boone, sheriff of Watauga counfy and uncle of Mrs. C. C. Oates, of Kings Mountain, were held on June 24 at Three Forks Baptist church, near Boone. Sheriff Edmlston. had succum bed to injuries received in an automofoile accident. He was the only Democrat elected to public office in Wa tauga county In 1950, and, prior to that time, had served a four year-term as sheriff. . Ronnie Henry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Henry, was reported much improved this week, after receiving treatmerft last weekend at Charlotte Memorial hospital.
