Miss-. Betty Falls Is Shower Honoree Miss Betty Falls, bride-elect of late fall was honored at a love ly party and shower Thursday night given by Mrs. Robert Allen. A bridal color note of green and white was cleverly carried ?; out' in the decorations and re freshments. Bridal games were played during the evening, pri ? zes given to the winhers. ? Later guests were Invited to the refreshment table. Here the napkins were decorated with a bride and groom. Bridal molded Ice cream, individual cakes in scribed Betty arid Leon, nuts and punch were served. Each guest was given a mini- 1 ature parasol, 'and directed to a table where the honoree found a shower of gifts, four eomplete place settings in her chosen chl na. .? Miss Falls wore a blue suit with black accessories and was presented with a red geranium corsage; Mrs. H. R. Hunnicutt Fetes Miss Arthur With Party Mrs. H. R. IlUhnicutt entertain ed members of the Ace of Clubs Thursday at the country club and took the occasion to honor Miss Peggy Arthur, bride-elect. The guests were seated at several small tables in the lounge where " "special, attention was directed to vivid arrangements of mixed fall flowers. v Contract bridge was played and when scores were tallied prizes were presented to the winners. Mrs. Paul Neisler was the recipi ent of the high score prize for visitors. Mrs. Fred Plonk and Mrs. W. K. Mauney, Jr. were the most successful players among the club members. MEN'S STORE if Mrs. Ramseur Gives Luncheon Complimenting Miss Neisler Miss Patty Neisler, who will become the bride of John Oates Plonk on October 11th., was hon ored at a lovely bridge luncheon Friday at the Country Club, given by Mrs, W. L. Ramseur, Miss Neisler wore a grey raw silk costume, with a panel of yel low down the side front extend ing from the shoulder to the hem. The full skirt was worn with a wide gunmetal belt, her grey felt hat, sailor type was worn with a veil. A corsage of matching yel low flowers was presented her by the hostess. The floral appointments in the club were unusually colorful. In the entrance hall was noted a bowl of American Beauty roses, on the ledge in a blue hobnail urn was a mass arrangement of mix ed flowers, lavender chrysanthe mums and American Beauty roses in a milk glass pitcher graced the mantle over the fireplace and on the tier table was an arrangement of shades of magenta. On the mantle In the opposite room were white roses and glads in a brass urn, on the table in a black bowl were peach colored dahlias. Nine tables were placed In the formal dining ropm where inter esting progressions of bridge were played. Just Inside the door as you entered was a wicker bas ket filled with yellow dahlias. The mantle held an Interesting arrangement of marigolds; ber ries; green peppers and acorn squash as accessories. In a dough tray on a side table red sage, zin nias and rhododendrons made a lovely display, one unique ar rangement was dried lotus pods and berries in a copper kettle. On a table in the back of the room was a large fan shaped ar rangement of ?reen foliage, spi der lilies, and handine berries, on the piano in a green pottery con tainer were marigolds and bal loon vine in a line. arrangement. Three progressions of bridge were played. Mrs. Arnold Kiser and Mrs. Joe Evans of Statesville were' presented playing prizes. Hand painted tallies' representing '.'Mammy" tied in with the favo rite recipe each one had been ask ed to bring, these were presented the honoree with an index file. The mamn.) motif was carried out on the luncheon plate with a face made on the peach pickle. Strawberry tarts were served for the dessert course. ' ' : Mrs. Coman Falls Fetes Tuesday NigVit Club The private dining room of the country club was in festive mood Tuesday night with a variety, of l.ite summer flowers when Mrs. Coman Falls graciously entertain oil the Tuesday night bridge club and one additional guest. E, Abbott entertained with eight tables of bridge com plimenting Miss Patty Neisler, bride-elect. The entire lower floor of the home was decorated with a pro fusion of cut fall flowers in rich warm colors. Covers were laid when the guests arrived and places were found with bridal tal lies. A salad and depsert course was served. Four progressions of bridge were enjoyed during the evening with high score prize going to Mrs. Hunter Neisler, and low score award to Mrs. Philip Pad gett. Friends There Prettily Planned Party Given For Two Brides-Elect Misses Patty Nelsler and Peggy Arthur attractive and much feted brides-elect were extended a charming Courtesy Saturday mor ning by Mrs. R, H. Webb. Mrs. Hugh Orm&nd and Mrs. David Neill who gave a coca cola party at the country club. The attractive setting lor the party was achieved with colorful zinnias, dahlias and roses. Red and white predominated in ti.c entrance hall where Mrs. Joe Neisler received the guests. Large arrangements of red and white glads and deep red dahlias decorated the salon where the receiving line was formed. Head ing the receiving line Was Mrs. David Neill and with her stood the honorees, Miss Nelsler and her mother, Mrs. Hunter Neisler, and Miss Arthur and her mother, Mrs. J. H. Arthur. Miss Neisler was very chic in a beige woolen dress with mat ching knit beret worn with gold jewelry, brown accessories com plemented with a corsage of bronze azalea chrysanthemums. Miss Arthur had chosen an im ported turquoise tweed jumper with which she used a black jer sy blouse with matching acces sories and a corsage similar to Miss Neisler's, gift of the hostes ses. Mrs. Hugh Ormand greeted callers in the hall which was de corated in pyra canlba berries. Mrs, R. H. Webb received In the dining room where autumn colors predominated going from pale yellow into deep orange and reds, with a background of green. The refreshment table covered with a dark green cloth was cen tered with a large tray of assort ed tidbits, across one end of the table was a straw filled with har monizing fruits, vegetables and flowers with a smaller arrange ment at the tray in the center, other trays of party sandwiches, cookies, potato chips cheese fin gers, and hot ham biscuits com? pleted the table appointments. Plates and napkins were given out by Miss Marion Arthur and Mrs. O. P. Lewis. Others assisting in serving coca colas and enter taining were Mrs.. Harry Page, Mrs, Fred Plonk, Mrs. Robert. Neill, Mrs. Charles Neisler and Miss Jean Arthur. ' Small'tabies were arranged ca baret style around the room each centered with a low arrangement of magnolia leaves and red buds, the leaves extending the length of the tables. Several hundred called between the hours of ten thirty and twelve. Out-of-town guests came from Charlotte, Shelby, Cherryville, York and Gastonia. Biser, Mrs. M. K. Fuller and Mrs. J. H. Arthur were in vited to play with members of the Twin-Table bridge club when they met Tuesday nightwith Mrs. I. B. Goforth. Large bowls of zinnias, roses, marigolds and other garden flo wers in colorful combinations en hanced the attractiveness of the home. Later in the evening the hos tess was assisted in serving a delicious dessert collation of orange fruit cake topped with whipped cream and a cherry, cheese fingers, nuts and coffee. High score for visitors went to Mrs. Johnnie Smathers, Mrs. O. W. Myers winning high score a mong club rfiembers. wers. Four tables were appointed for refreshments and upon arri val of guests ice cream pie, punch and nuts were served. Each table was centered with a rose bud, the honorees places were marked with a white split carnation cor sage Which they pinned on their shoulder. Bridal tallies and score pads added an Interesting note. Follow ing the progressions of bridge prizes were awarded Miss Marion Arthur for compiling the highest score. The consolation gift went to Mrs. Charles A. Goforth, Jr. Miss Arthur and Miss Neisler were remembered with crystal in their wedding patterns.
