Arrangements of marl- 1 golds and Iruit, with a touch of the Hallowe'en motif, were used as decoration. Twelve were pre sent, including two visitors; Mrs. Phil Shore, wife of the minister, and Mrs. C. A. Butterworth, presi dent of the W. S, C. S. '? Prior to the meeting Bill Brlggs and Jane Ormartd visited the cir cle and took orders for gift wrap ping, to raise money for a Com munity Service project of the Senior M.Y.F, Devotionals led by Mrs. Mil dred Wright opened the meeting. Mrs.. T. W; Grayson then gave a most int resting program on "Africa and its Needs", passing] leaflets showing pictures of na tives attending services, etc. The business session opened with minutes by the secretary, Mrs. Baxter payseur, who also read a note of thanks from Mrs. C. I Fulton, a circle member who has not been able to attend the meetings this year. Mrs. Yates Throneburg, Circle leader, announced that the wt>: men are asked to bring toys as a shower for the nursery depart ment, She named Nov. 7 as World Community Day, when children's clothing will be collected and sent oversees to needy children. Next Sun day, October 19, the uptown churches are to attend Central Methodist Church, at the evening Halite Gardner Circle Met Monday With Mrs. Tate The Halllc Gardner Circle of the First Baptist Church met Monday night with Mrs. D. E. Tate. This was the first meeting for the year, Mrs. W. M. Moor head, chairman, presided during the routine business plans were outlined for the years work. Miss Diane Gamble conducted the devotional period. Miss Mar garet Goforth gave a very Inter esting program on, "Christian Citizenship". Four new members, Miss Mar garet Goforth, Mrs. Joe Hen dricks, 'Mrs. Sam D. Collins and Miss Eleanor Settlemyer were welcomed into the circle. Sixteen members were present. A social period was enjoyed at the close of the meeting, the hos tess served Ice cream roll, coffee and nuts. Methodist Circle Met With Mrs. Floyd Payne Circle No. 7 of Central Metho dist church met Monday night with Mrs. Floyd Payne. Mrs. Clarence Jolly nave the devo tional and Mrs. Walter Harmon and Mrs1. Ben Beam presented to the group an interesting pro gram on "Africa." , Mrs. Dave Saunders, chalrrpan presided over the business ses sion. During the social period the hostess served a party plate with coffee. Twelve members were present for the meeting. Pfc. Bill Harmon of Ft. Jackson spent a five day leave with his parents, Mr; and Mrs. B. F. Beam, lie cam?* especially for the Nels ler-Plonk' wedding. Miss Lela Clark conducted the devotional and Miss Grace Davis presented a most informative pro gram on Africa. Routine business matters were disposed of during the business, members' were urged to attend the study course every Wednes day night.
