Charlotte Garden Club to Sponsor Garden Symposium To stimulate Interest In beauti fying the Individual garden and In appreciation for the enthusias tic support given by gardeners In Charlotte and surrounding towns at the time of its annual Spring Garden Tour, the Charlotte Gar den .Club is sponsoring a two day Garden Symposium. It is to be held on Monday, October 27 at the Charlotte Women's Club and Tuesday, October 28, at the Mint Mueseum. The following program has been arranged. Monday, October 27, Charlotte Women's Club - 2:00 p. m. Mrs. R. L. Underwood, Greensboro, N. C., "Clinic on Dried Flower Prepa ration and Arrangement". 8:00 p. m, Mr. 11. Stuart Ortioff, Land scape Architect, Huntington, N. Y, "Graphically Illustrated Talk on Planting Design". Tuesday, 'October 28, Mint Mu seum 10:00 a. m. Coffee la the lobby, 10:30 a. m; Mr Charles Hudson, Atlanta, Ga., "Prepara tion and Maintenance- of the Sou thern Garden". 2:00 p. m. Mr. Wil liam L. Hunt, Chapel Hill, N. C., "Continuity of Bloom In the Sou thern Garden". -8:00 p. m. Mr. H. Stuart Ortioff, "Layout of Small Gardens", with colored slides. Only a nominal fee will be charged. Miss Joyce Foster Fetes Bid And Bye Bridge Club Members of the Bid and Bye Club and one additional guest, Mrs. Sam Collins met Tuesday night with Miss Joyce Foster. Bowls ol mixed fall flowers were used to lend a festive, air to the home. Bridge was played in progressions with score prizes be ing presented Mrs. Clavon Kelly and Mrs. Sam Collins for scoring highest and second highest. Ice cream pie, nuts, and punch were served at the conclusion of the games. Mrs. George Morrow Is Hostess To ARP Circle The Frances Garrison Circle of the ARP church met Monday night with Mrs. George Morrow. Mrs. John Cheshire, chairman of the. circle presided over the short business meeting. The theme for this month's discussion was "Home Missions." Mrs. Bill Fulton had arranged an interesting program. When the meeting adjourned, .Mrs. Morrow assisted by Mrs. Garrison Goforth served delici ous refreshments. With Mrs. Joe Neisler Tuesday Bridge Ckib Met Mrs. Ladd Hamrlck and Mrs. Harry Page were invited to play with members of the Tuesday Af ternoon Bridge Club this week when Mrs. Joe Nebler entertain ed at Dogwood. Colorful chrysanthemums and greenery were used about the home to add a decorative touch. During the progressions a salad course with accessories was. serv ed. Red roses were used In the living room and mixed flowers in the other rooms all harmonizing into a lovely decor for the meeting. A social half hour was enjoyed prior to the program and the hos tess, assisted by Mrs. Ruth Thorn asson, Mrs. Ruby Alexander and Mrs. Edith Goforth. served fro zen fruit salad, hot ham biscuits, pickles, olives, potato chips and sandwiches with coffee. Chocolate tarts decorated with whipped cream and cherries were passed for the dessert course. Mrs. VV. T.
