Ware Loses Eye Following Accident Howard Ware, well ? known Kings Mountain citizen, Is a pa tient In Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat hospital, where he is receiving treatment following an accident to his right eye suffered last Friday. Mr. Ware was repairing an axe when a small piece of metal be came embedded in his eye. An active churchman and lay leader throughout his life, Mr. Mauney had an especial Interest in the welfare of the Lowman Home, at White Rock, S. C-, a Lutheran home for the aged and Infirm.. He had been a trustee of the Lowman Home since 1922 and was vice-president of the board at the time of his death. He had (been named a life-time member of this board. He had served his home church U? vari ous capacities and was cbntlnu ously one of Its most liberal con tributors. both to nominal and special projects. He was a former member of the Kings Mountain school board, which he served for eight years, and which he had served as secretary. In 1947, he joined with other members of his famU ly in giving to the city the Jacob S. Mauney Memorial Library and Teacher's Home. Mr. Mauney was also Interest ed in agriculture and operated several farms in the area. Mr! Hayney was married on De cember 20, i899, to Miss Susan Anna Iscnhower, at Coricordla Lutheran church, Conover, who survives. ' , Six children survive,- including two sons, Aubrey Mauney and p'r. Jacob P. Mauney, both of Kings Mountain, . and four daughters; Mrs. B. N. (Julia) Barnes, of Kings Mountain, Mrs. II. B. < Juanita) Wolf, of Char lotte, Mrs. L- L. (Frances) Lohr, of Raleigh, and Mrs. C. P. (Mar tha Lou) Fisher, of Rockwell. Al so surviving are three brothers. R. L. Mauney. D. C. Mauney and W. K. Mauney, all of Kings Mountain;, a sister, Mrs. E. C. Cooper, of Chapel Hill; 12 grand children and two great grand children. The funeral rites were conduct ed by Df/WrP. Gerberding, pas tor of the church, with the Rev. L. E. Blaekwelder, superinten dendent ,of the Lowman Home, assisting. Active pallbearers were Horace Iscnhower, Samuel Isenhower and James Isenhower, all of Conover, Carl F. Mauney, Dr. William L. Mauney, George H. Mauney and Jacob M Cooper, all of Kings Mountain.
