El-Bethel-Bethware News (Mrs. Leonard Gamble) EL - BETHEL ? BETHWARE? Rev. Boyce Huffstetler has been assigned the pastor of El- Bethel Church for this year. He delivered his first sermon Sunday. He is a student at Converse College, Spartanburg, S. C. but after his graduation the last of January he and his wife and baby son will < move into the new parsonage at j El-Bethel. He is a native of Kings Mountain. The Bethware PTA met Thurs- , day night at 7:30 p. m. in the | High School auditorium. A large crowd was present. Mrs. Thelma Gantt gave an inspirational de votional on Christmas. J. H. Rud lsell, principal of Bethware school spoke to the group on "Facts a bout Your School",- after which he showed a film on "The Tar Heel Family". Mrs. M. C. Pos ton directed some Christmas songs. Miss Lois Gamble returned home early Sunday morning from Chicago where she spent a week delegate to National 4-H Con | gress. 1 The Golden Link Sunday | School Class of El Bethel church enjoyed a solcal Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Swofford. The Bethware Junior and Sen ior 4-H Clubs met Tuesday morn ing for a regular meeting at the | school. ? A. Gibson wishes to thank Mr. Spidel of the Kings Mountain Country Club for paying for the lunches of the caddies and needy children. These children enjoyed a big turkey din ner with all the trimmings which was served at the school the day before Thanksgiving due to. the generous contribution of Mr. Spidel. The Spiritual Air Singers of Gastonia, N., C. will render a pro gram at the Davidson High School . Sunday, December 14, 1952 at 7:30 o'clock. Come out and enjoy some good singing. Admis sion for advance tickets 50 cents for adults, 25 cents for children. At the door, 75c aduits, 30c chil dren. There will be a Christmas con cert given at Davidson High School on Thursday night, Decern ber 18, 1952 at 8:00 p. m. Music will be by the Girl's Chorous, Boy's Chorous and the Glee Club. After the concert, Mrs. Gibson will give away the big, beautiful doll to the third grade girl that has sold the most tickets over $5.00. Bennix, will pre sent a Christmas Cantata, "Child of Bethlehem", December 21. Soloist in the Cantata are Mrs. Annie Byers, soprano; Mrs. Nina Mitchem, alto; Mr. Bennix, tenor; Sandro Blalock, baritone; Wlllard Aldrieh, bass; Miss Peggy Byers, soprano; and Miss Thelma Burris, alto. Come and enjoy a program of beautiful Yuletide music. The W. S. C. S. of St. Paul Me thodist Church met Sunday even ing at 4 p. m. in the home of Mrs. Daisy Lee Smith. Mrs. Smith pre sided over the business session. Rev. Alford, pastor, made a talk on "Understanding Each Other". A paper was read by Mrs. Ruth Adams. Remarks were made by Mrs, Mary Burris, Mrs. Clyde Adams and Mrs. J. L. Alford. At the close of the meeting refresh ments were served. Members present were Mrs, Lottie Means, Mrs. Marie Quinn, Mrs. Eugenia Brown, Mrs. Car rie Gordon, Mrs. Mary Ella Ro berts. Visitors from the W. S. C. S. of Gallle Methodist Church were Mrs. Mary Burrli, Mrs. Clyde Adams, Mrs. Sadie Mc Clean and Mrs. Samuel Adams. Members of the PTA are spon soring a play Monday night, Dec. 15, 1952 at Davidson School. Time Is 7:30 p. m. Everyone Is Invited to be present. Name of the play "Ghost Farm". The agricultural organizations of Compact High School will close their activities for 1952 with a Christmas program and tree at the school next Wednesday night, December 17 at 7 o'clock p. m. This was agreed to and arrange ments were completed at the regr ular monthly meeting of theclub Monday night, December 8. Christmas music and inspira tional lecture and the exchanging of gifts are to be the chief fea tures of the closing program. Mrs. Francis Gordon, Rev. P. B.
