Homdon, Editor Robin Saunders Celebrates First Birthday With Party Mr. and Mrs. David Saunders entertained with a pretty party Tuesday afternoon, December 5, honoring their daughter, (Robin, who was celebrating her first birthday anniversary. ' The party rooms were decorat ed with brightly colored Christ mas lights, Christmas tree and old Santa In his sleigh. Upon arrival each little guest was given a Christmas ibell pin to wear and a gay colored toal-. loon taken from the decorations in one of the party rooms. The children spent the afternoon playing with different kinds of toys. The beautiful pink and white Ibirthday cake holding one pink candle was brought in and "Hap py Birthday" sung to Robin. Ice cream and cookies were served, the cookies decorated to resem ble Santy, bolls, stars and Christ mas trees. A Santa filled with suckers was given as a favor. After the many lovely gifts were opened pictures were made of the group. Those present to help Robin celebrate her first anniversary included: Libby Trott, Linda Falls, Joey .Hedden, Debbie Timms, Rocky CJoforth, Pete Ware, Tony Ware, Bobby Logan, Neil McCarter Honored With Birthday Party Neil McCarter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar McCarter> celebrated his sixth birthday anniversary I Friday, December 5th, when his mother entertained for him at their home on Gold street. The children enjoyed playing games and singing directed by Mrs. W. L. Pressly. All gathered around while Nell opened his gifts. Later In the afternoon, the guests were served Ice cream and the gaily decorated birthday cake. Present for the /delightful par ty were Dell Goforth, Lynn Ches hire, Edward Ware, Kenny and Patty Steffy, (Rheta . and Doyt Phlfer, Wendell and Robert Phi fer, Joan and Billy King and Ray Henderson. Balloons were given as favors* Miss Marion Arthur Shows Colored Slides Of Japan At six o'clock Sunday evening, Miss Marlon Arthur showed col ored slides taken on her visit to Japan to members of the Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship. The young people enjoyed very much the many colorful pictures, and her Interesting explanation of them, and learned much about Japan of today. C. Clary Family Hold Reunion Sunday Christmas festivities were ob served Sunday lor Privates Char les and Robert Clary at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. 3. C. Clary Both servicemen were home for a few days before reporting j for further assignments. Pvt. Charles Clary leaves Thursday for San Francisco, where he will sail for Korea. He has been stationed with the Ar my's Third Battalion In Fort Knox, Ky. Pvt. Robert Clary will return to Ft. Benning, Ga. Other mem bers of the Immediate family at. home to celebrate Christmas with the brothers were their two sisters, Mrs. Willie Seymour and family of Charlotte and Mrs. Al bert Cothfan and family of Bes semer City and a brother, Lloyd Clary, and family . of Kings Mountain. Mrs. Yates Throneburg Methodist Circle Hostess On Monday night Mrs. Yates Throneburg was hostess to Circle No. 6, Central Methodist church. Her apartment was very attrac tive with Christmas decorations of candles, Christmas balls, qnd greenery. Fourteen were present, including one visitor, Mrs. E. W. Griffin, who is a Conference of ficer of the W. S. C. S. The meeting opened with de vo.tlonals by Mrs. Mildred Wright ."ho read the Christmas story Lom the Bible. Records of carols were played at the beginning of the meeting. Mrs. Baxter Payseur then presented a Christmas pro gram of meditation, plctoral stories, Christmas poems, the story of Christmas in Japan, readings, "I Will lr You Will," and "Our Christmas Presents," a talk, "God's Finger on a Man's Shoulder," and a Christmas prayer. During the business session, Mrs. Yates Throneburg, leader of the circle, passed a petition for a Prayer Room in the White House among the group to be signed. She urged the members to bring good books or magazines to the church to be sent to Faith Cabin Library, Augusta, Ga., an exten sion of Payne College. Attend ance at Prayer Meeting, General Meeting, and Spiritual .Life Met ting were urged. The Secre tary, Mrs. Baxter Payseur, read a letter from Sally Lou MacKin non, Executive Secretary, Africa and Europe, which was written between Belgian Congo and Bel gium in a plan, which stressed the deep need for workers and aid in bringing Christianity to Africa. The hostess served open-faced sandwiches out in Christmas mo tifs, cake, and hot coffee, after which gifts were delightfully ex changed among the members. Each member also brought gifts for a needy family, and the gift box overflowed with these -gifts. In conclusion a Christmas re cording and a recording of the Lord's Prayer, made by James Throneburg, were played. Methodist Youth To Give Christmas Drama "Christmas the Beautiful", a drama, will be presented by the Youth Fellowship of-Central Me thodist church Sunday evening at 7;30 o'clock, under the direc tion of Miss Kittie Lou Sutton Setting Is in a modern home, and the cast is as follows: Fath er, Bud Mayes; Mother, Jarte Or mand; College Daughter, Jean Hicks; College Friend, Jo. Ann Dixon; Older Brother. Eddie Go forth; Teen-age Sister, Mary Ann Beam; Younger 3rrther. Bill Bumgardner, and Grandmother, Betty Prince Young people of the Senior and Intermediate groups are to assist by singing jn the youth choir, directed Jby B. S. Peeler, Jr., with Shirley Falls as organist. Gene Patterson is in charge of lighting, and scenery is by Bill Hudspeth, Councilor; Bill Briggs, Bill Bumgardner, and Mr. and Mrs. Snooks McDaniel. Youth Choir rehearsal is at 5 p. m. Sunday, with a "^ht sup per to be served at 6 p. m- by a circle of the W. S. C. S. Cast for the play will practice earlier in the afternoon. Vickie Diane Jackson Celebrates 5th Birthday Little Vicklc Diane Jackson celebrated her 5th birthday Sat urday with a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Del bert Jackson. Games were played throughout the evening with prizes and fa vors given to each winner. Guests were invited' into the dining room and served birthday cake and other party refresh ments. Those present to enjoy the hap py occasion were Patricia Ann Smith, Gary and Linda Stewart, Nancy, Dorothy, and Gary Bolin, and Brenda Jackson. Vickie Diane was the recipient of many nice gifts. Dixon Circle No. I Met With Mrs. Humphries Circle No. 1 of Dixon Presby terian Church met Saturday night with Mrs. Thomas Humphries at 7 o'clock. Mrs. P. D. Patrick, Bible lea der, brought the Bible study which was a continuance of sub jects taken from Colossians. After routine business was dis cussed, the hostess served de lightful refreshments. Mrs. Sam Davis Hostess To Duplicate Bridge Club Mrs. Sam Davis was hostess" to the Duplicate club at her home Monday afternoon. Fruit arrangements were used In decorations. Members were present for two tables of bridge. During the progressions the hostess served a dessert course with cheese straws and stuffed dates. When cards were laid aside and scores counted, Mrs. Fred Plonk held top score with Mrs. Drace Peeler and Mrs. George Houser tying for second place. Mr. and Mr* T. M. Broome and Larry Broome of Rock Hill, Tho mas H. Blanton and A. R. Tilson of Greenville, S. C. spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. J* J P. Miller. Come See! At A&P!
