Mrt. P. D. Herndon, editor Mrs. M. C. Amos Entertains Azalea Garden Club Members of the newly organiz ed Azalea Garden Club met Thursday night with Mrs. M. C. Amos. Miss Diane Gamble, president, appointed the following commit tees; program and year book, Mrs. Denver King, Mrs. George Blalock and Mrs. Margie Bridges ; constitution and by-laws, Mrs. C. L. Alexander, Mrs. Hillard Black, and Mrs. Sam Hamrick; conservation and beautification, Mrs. Margie Alexander, Mrs. Boyce Gault and Miss Diane Gamble; telephone, Mrs. Furman Wilson ; librarian, Miss Grace Davis and Mrs. Faye Payseur; publicity, Mrs. Jim White and Mrs. Gus Petty. The April meeting will be held with Mrs. Sam Hamrick with Miss Gamble associate hostess. A social period was enjoyed at the close of the meeting during the time the hostess was assisted in serving delightful refresh ments. Mrs. J. H. Patterson Fetes House And Garden Club Mrs. J. H. Herndon Hostess To Kings Mountain Garden Club Mrs. J. F. Herndon was hostess to the Kings Mountain Garden Club Wednesday afternoon lor its March meeting. Spring flo wer arrangements were noted throughout the home. Mrs. J. A. Neisler, program chairman, presented Mrs. Frank Summers, who gave a very in teresting talk on "Mulch", Many beautiful specimens were on display and unusual and beautiful mantel arrangements were brought by Mrs. Howard Jackson, Mrs. John Cheshire and Mrs. Vernon Crosby. After the- business session, pre sided over by Mrs. Carl Mauney, president, the hostess served a salad and sweet course.' clal guest. Mrs. Jacob Cooper gave a very Interesting and informative re port of the National Council of Garden Clubs. During the business session, Mrs. Davis called attention to the Garden School No. 3 in Hickory, March 16, 17, and 18. Chairman of the activities committee, Mrs. Paul Neisler, expressed apprecia tion to all for the splendid coope ration concerning Mrs. Forts coming on March 19. Arrangements for the month were of jonquils. Mrs. Paul Neis ler used a black metal vase with jonquils combined with galax leaves and pine branches. A va riety o? jonquils with blooming forsythia branches and ivy ten drils was arranged by Mrs. Au brey Mauney. Mrs. Patterson was assisted in serving a tempting dessert course and coffee. Mr. Gamble has return ed to his home in Sylacauga, Ala., Mrs. Gamble and children re mained for a longer visit. Margrace Woman's Club Enjoy Interesting Film Mrs. C. W. Falls presided over the Margrace Woman's club meeting held in the club house, Friday evening, March 13th. The devotional period was Open ed with a prayer by Mrs. Paul Mauney. The roll was called, minutes of the previous meeting read, and the treasurer's report given by Mrs. Carl Gantt. A. film on cultivating vegetables and flowers was shown by Wal lace Simmons of Shelby. The | film was very interesting and in structive and was enjoyed by the I club members. Mrs. Henry Smith ] was welcomed as a new member. The hostesses, Mesdames Ar-jJ | thur Hamrlck, Ootto Guyton, Carl | Gantt and Floyd Gates served de licious refreshments at the con clusion of the program. Mr. And Mrs. Moorhead Hosts To Bible Class Mr. and Mrs. Manly Moorhead were delightful hosts on Saturday j night to members of the Manly Morhead Bible Class of the First Baptist Church and their wives. The Moorhead home was made festive with a variety of spring blossoms. Miss Billie Lou Melton, promotional director of the j church planned the evenings en tertainment which included, group singing of. Irish songs, Irish games and contests. Later in the evening, shamrock ice cream, angel food squares and salted nuts were served with lime punch.
