The home was most attractive with arrange ments of cut flowers in harmoni zing Colors. Cokes were served during the progression, later a salad course with ice tea was passed. Mrs. G. E. Home Economics Classes Hold Dress Parade On Friday afternoon, May 22 at 2:30 o'clock the first and se cond year home economics class es of Central High School held a very interesting and beautiful dress-parade. A large number of mothers and friends were pre sent. Each dress was modeled by the pupil ?vho planned and made it. The styles were varied and ap propriate for summer wear. The taste manifested in the selection of materials and styles bore evi dence of excellent work being done in the field of sewing and planning of wardrobes. At the conclusion of the dress parade, the members of the home economics classes served fruit punch and cookies to mothers and friends who were present. Gleaners Class Met In H. S. Ware Home Mrs. Howard Ware and Mrs. Leonard Ware were hostesses Thursday night entertaining at the home of the former for members of the Gleaners Class of the First ^aptist Church. Mrs. Everette Cloninger gave the devotional which was follow ed with prayer by MVs. Byron Hord. Mrs. Clyde Jolly presided during the business meeting. | Strawberry short cake and Ice tea was served by the hostesses. Ace Of Clubs Met With Mrs. Amos Dean Mrs. Amos Dean very gracious ly entertained members of the Ace of Clubs at her home Thurs day afternoon. Mixed summer flowers with roses predominating were used as decorations. Bridge was played through live progressions which left playing prizes with Mrs. Howard Jackson and Mrs. W. K. Mauney, Jr. During the progressions, the hostess served a salad course and pecan pie. Fractional Point Game Played At Country Club Guests to make up three tables of bridge assembled at the Coun try Club Thursday night for the monthly duplicate fractional point game. >' The Howell movement was used. When scores were tallied Mrs, Sam Davis and Mrs. George Hocser held high score with C E. Warllck and W. R. Craig win ning seoond high. Summer Fashion Show Presented Friday Night Under the sponsorship of the Junior Woman's Club and the Merchant's association, a brilliant and colorful Fashion Show war presented Friday night to a large and appreciative audience. Much - interest was shown in the assjrtment of summer cos tumes, ranging in latest togs for the small fry to and includ ing smart ensembles for the ma ture woman. The wide scope of fashions included beach wear, sports wear, morning and after noon dresses and evening clothes. In addition to seeing the latest in fashions many nice door prizes were given by other business firms. Flowers were furnished by City Florist, Jewelry by Alexan der's Jewel Box, furniture by Baird's Furniture Store, records by Logan's Record Shop, electri cal by B. S. Peeler, Jr., and Floyd Thornburg. A special feature was the vocal solo by Miss Barbara Matthews. Piano selections were by Mrs. F. R. McCurdy. Mrs. James B. Simpson was commentator for the event. The final presentation of the show was a lovely pink net even ing dress from Myers, modeled by Miss Marion Arthur. Philip Whitley Celebrates Birthday With Gala Party Little Philip Whitley, feon of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Whitley of 105 Lackey street, was six years old Saturday and celebrated the event by playing host to seven teen little playmates at a gala party given at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. George S. Whitley, who with his mother helped him entertain his little guests. (James were played on the lawn, later the refreshments were served from two tables on the lawn. A large birthday cake decorated in green and pink and topped with six lighted candles was placed in the center of one of the tables. Philip blew out the candles. Ice cream, cake and punch was served. A picture was made of the hon oree standing by the birthday cake. Philip's maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George W. White, and his paternal grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Whitley. Mrs. Thomasson Fetes Town And Country Club Mrs. C. F. Thomasson enter tained the Town and Country Garden Club at her home Thurs day night. Beautiful arrange ments of gladioli carnations, red roses and a fruit arrangement were utilized in room decorations. A frozen fruit salad course with tea and other accessories was ser ved. Mrs. W. L. Pmssly gave a very interesting talk on "Flbwer Ar ranging". Members celebrating birthday anniversaries this month were Mrs. Charles Thomasson, Mrs. Baxter Payseur and Mrg. W. M. Moorehead. The club was federat ed this year, it was announced during the business. This Is the last meeting until September. - Mrs. Paul Hendricks Monday Bridge Hostess Mrs. Paul Hendricks entertain ed with bridge on Monday after noon. Her guests were members cf the Duplicate Bridge Club, and her mother, Mrs. J. W. Crosland, Mrs. W. L. Ramseur, Mrs. Hugh Ormand, and Mrs. J. L. McGill.
