CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY ? Utile Jean Marie Seism, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Earl Seism of East Gold street, celebrated her first birthday anniversary Sunday, May 31. Margrace Woman's Club Met Friday Evening The Mafgrace Woman's Club held their May meeting at the club house Friday evening. Tolleson had a very informative program on the Methodist Youth Fellowship, their programs, duties, and ac complishments, stressing the need of leadership, advice and right examples from adults. The following committees were named, Mrs.. A. P. Warllok, co chairman; Mrs. Hubert Carlisle and Mrs. W. W. Tolleson, pro gram; Mrs. C. T. Carpenter, Sr., secretary of Spiritual Life and Devotionals; Mrs. John Plonk, and. Mrs. H. T. Fulton, Sr., mem bership; Mrs. M. C. Poston, trea surer; Mrs. Glenn Suggs, Mrs. J. R. Davis and Mrs. C. T. Car penter, Sr,, Telephone. After the meeting, a social hour was enjoyed. Home Arts Club Met With Mrs. W. L. Pressly Mrs. W. L. Pressly was hostess to the Home Arts Club on Tues day afternoon. Arrangements of yellow gladioli, daisies, regal li lies and magnolia were used throughout the rooms. After the business session, Mrs. W. L. Pressly had charge of the program using as her topic "His tory of Furniture and How to I dentify It.". She used pictures illustrating chlppendale, hepple white, sheraton, and duncan phyfe furniture. The hostess was assl^ed in sewing a delicious alad plate. Ice cream meringue were passed as a sweet course. Wells In New Baptist Chapel The new Chapel at First Bap tist Church, Shelby, made a love ly setting for the beautiful wed ding ceremony of Miss Sara Lee Hopper of Shelby and Lee Mc Bride Wells of Kings Mountain on Sunday, May thirty- first at four o'clock in the aiternoon. The. Reverend Harlan Harris, pastor of the bride at the cere mony church, officiated with the double ring rites and Mrs, Hu bert Plaster, organist and Mrs. Ben Suttle. vocalist, presented a program of nuptial music. Mrs. Plaster played a medley of traditional wedding selections prior to the 'entrance of the wed ding party, also using the tradi lional wedding marches and Mrs. Suttle sang "Because", D'Harde- 1 lot; "I Love Thee", firleg, and ended the ceremony singing "O Perfect Love" as a closing prayer. The outline for the altar set ting was marked with one cen tral giant fern medallion posed in the choir loftrrtirectly behind the altar, flanked with smaller medallions on each side. Arrang ed between the medallions were greenery entwined seven-bran ched candelabra holding lighted Cathedral candles, arranged in half-peaks pointing to the cen tral medallion. Below the giant medallion was a large all-white design of gladioli, lacy asters and gypsophilla posed ' on the choir railing, from which extended gar lands of greenery continuing to cover the entire railing and com plete the lovely setting. The bride entered the Chapel and was escorted to the altar by her eldest brother Carlos L. Hop per, who gave her In marriage. A striking brunette, the bride made a beautiful picture in her wedding gown of bridal white nylon net and lace posed over satin; the lace bodice ended in a wide V neckline edged with hand clipped lace petals joined to the sheer yoke which was marked with a single strand pearl chok er; the long lace sleeves tapered at the wrists and ended in calla points at the hands and the fitted bodice contrasted with the fully gathered skirt of lace and net horizontal panels which fell an kle-length over bridal satin. Her tiered veiling of illusion fell waist -length from a fitted satin cap trimmed with a lace halo framing her face and she carried a white orchid, nestled in white nylon net posed on a brlde'a Bible showered with satin streamers. Her pearls were a gift from the bridegroom. ? Miss Rebeeca Hooper of New York City, only sister of the bride, attended her as maid of honor, wearing a waltz-length gown of pink nylon net over matching taffeta featuring a sweetheart neckline, contour bo dice and fully gathered skirt. She wore a matching stole, mitts and a matching pink broad-brimmed hat of transparent mohair. Her bouquet was a crescent of pink carnations entwined with match ing satin leaves. The bride's mother chose a navy blue silk dress with navy accessories and had a corsage of gardenias at her shoulder. The groom's mother wore a pink flowered crepe dress with black accessories and also had gard enias at her shoulder. Gillie Falls, Jr., brother-in-law of the groom from Kings Moun tain served him as best man and ushers were Alton M. Hopper and James M. Hopper, brothers of the bride, Wallace Reid Car penter and Herman W. Blalock, brother-in-law of the groom from Kings Mountain. The new Mrs. Wells is the younger daughter of Mrs. Stough Hopper and the late Mr. Hopper of Shelby. Rhyne, Miss Carlyle Ware, Retiring Teachers, Luncheon Honorees The members of the West School Faculty entertained at a luncheon on last Monday, honor ing Mrs. C. Q. Rhyne and Miss Carlyle Ware, who are retiring as teachers in the Kings Moun tain city schools. The spacious front hall of the school, which was used as a din ing hall on this occasion, made a lovely setting for the party, A basket arrangement of larkspur, roses and smllax added beauty and charm. The table was spread with a white linen tablecloth. The pretty centerpiece was made of white daisies, yellow snapdragons, and feverfew, and ran the full length of the table. Attractive place cards completed the table ap pointment. ? . * A delicious luncheon was serv ed by Mrs. Paul McGinnls. The honor guests were each presented gifts. Mrs. Rhyne has taught In the Kings Mountain city schools for ?many years, and has held the re sponsible position of principal of West School for 33 years. Miss Ware has taught in the Kings Mountain city schools for 40 years. For the past several years, she has been treasurer of West school. / Miss Ramona Allen, student at Lees McRae college, Banner Elk, has arrived here to spend the summer witft her parents, Mr- and Mrs. Hunter Allen.
