Pre-Nuptial Courtesy Extended Miss Jones As a pre-nuptial courtesy to Miss Betty Kate Jones of Thom asville whose marriage to H. L. (Jack) Ruth, Jr. will be an event of Wednesday, August 12, Mrs. William Herndon entertained Saturday morning at her home in the Herndon Apts. with a buffet breakfast. Miss Jones' wore a smart sun baek frock in black and, white, and upon arrival received a white shoulder corsage, gift of the hos tess. Mixed garden flowers made ef fective decorations. A large glass top table was placed in front of the fireplace, dainty tendrils of ivy were entwined around the table, from this the perfectly ap pointed breakfast was served. I On a lew table was an arrange ment of bridal greenery centered with a bridal doll. After the breakfast, tables were rearranged for bridge and sever al interesting progressions en sued which left playing prizes with Mrs. Tommy Baker and Mrs. L. L. Lackey, Jr., for reeelvng the two top scores. An honor gift was presented Miss Jones by the hostess. Mrs. Lee Roberts Opens Lunchroom Mrs. Lee Roberts is announc ing this week the opening of a luncheon at Phenix Mill. The establishment will be ope rated as Phenix Lunch and holds a Grade A sanitation rating. Mrs. Roberts said the firm would serve hot sandwiches, in cluding Red Bridges' barbecue, Fiesta ice cream, and other sun dries. State Youth Leader To Conduct Revival Rev. Archie Luke, State Youth director for the Churches of God in North Carolina, is to deliver a three day series of messages at the Church of God here on Par ker street. The weekend messages begin Friday night at 7:15 and close with the Sunday night service. Rev. Doc Wilbank, pastor, made the announcement and invited the public to attend. AT FORT SILL Private Ruby H. Green, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. W. IX Green, recently spent a leave here after toeing re-assigned from Fort Sam Houston to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Pvt.
