Editor Mrs. Walter Harmon Entertains Circle Circle No. 6 of Central Metho dist church met Monday night with Mrs. Walter Harmon at her homo on the P.hlfer Road, In the absence of the chairman, Mr*. J. C.. McKinney, Mrs. B..F. Beam, co-chairman, presided. Mrs. Paul Briggs gave. the de votional. The program consisted ol two interesting playlets, one from a .Service Center in Calcutta. India, and the other from Korea. ^>uring the, social period. Mrs. Harmon, assisted by Mrs. Meek Carpenter and Mrs. Gene Timms. jrrvrd a sweet course, wfth fruit punch and nuts. Mrs. Meek Carpenter was wel eorned as a new member. The September meeting will be with Mrs. Bfh Beam. 'The meeting was dismissed by praying the Lord's Prayer. Cornelia Leavell Circle Met With Mrs. Rufus Oates The Cornelia Leavell Circle of tike First Baptist church met Tue sday night with Mrs. Rufus Oates. Mrs. Karl Ledford opened the meeting with prayer and presided over the business session. Miss Lrthia I.ankford was elected lead er for the. coming year. A very interesting' program on I>r. M. T. Rankin, former Supt. of the Foreign Mission Hoard was given hy Miss Lankfont. v Following the program, Mrs. Oates invited the members out in the yard for a social gathering and Id eat watermelons. Myers gave a most inspiring Bible lesson from Mark 4: 1-20 on "Jesus the Matchless Teacher." ?<?, The circle topic for discussion, "Do Adults Keep Crowing." was led by Mrs. Ctatly McCnr'ter. Miss Betty Ina Wilson Bride Of G. G. Campbell Miss Betty Iva Wilson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Haskel C. Wilson of 416 N. Piedmont Ave., became the bride of Mr. Edward Gordon Campbell, son of Mr. Charles Campbell and the late Mrs. Campbell, Friday evening at 7 o'clock at the First Baptist church of York, S. C, The bride wore a powder blue sacony suit, using blue and white accessories, complemented with a shoulder corsage of white roses and greenery pinned at her shoul der. Mrs. Jack Ledford, matron-of honor, was the bride's only at tendant. Mrs. Ledford chose for the occasion a suit of soft green, using black accessories. She wore a corsage of white flowers. Jack Leutoid, friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. The bride and groom left im mediately following the ceremony for a wedding trip to Fontana Village.. . After August 1G, the couple wjll l>o at home on 502 Mountain St. The bride attended Kings Mountain High- School. The groom attended Kings Mountain High School and Western -North Carolina Teachers College. He is employed, at Keichhold Chemical, Inc., of Charlotte. Mrs. Paul Ware Hostess To Methodist Circle Circle No. 5 of Central Metho dist church met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Paul Ware on Waco Road with 17 members and three visitors present. The meeting was called to order an>! presided over by the chair man, Mrs. Y. F, Throneburg. Mrs. ' David Hamrick gave a beautiful devotion, this was fol lowed by the program given by Mrs. Hunter Patterson, who pre sented a most interesting study on "Evangelistic Centers in Mis sion Fields." Those taking par* on the program were Mrs. David Ilamrick. Mrs. Milliard Black, Miss Grace Davis. Miss I^ela Clark, and Mrs. Fred Ware. During the business session,, members were urged to attend the general meetings and spiritu al life meetings. Other matters of business were discussed. Mr* Sam Dye invited the circle to meet with her In September. Refreshments; were served and during the social period Miss Ja net Falls in a" very interesting and informal way gave highlights of her -trip abroad last "summer which were greatly enjoyed by ihe group, Mrs. Kenneth Carroll Gives Pretty Party Mrs. Kenneth Carroll was a charming hostess Saturday night when she entertained for Mrs. Jack Parker of Charlotte who be fore her recent marriage was Miss Betty Bonham. ? Striking decorations of baby's breath ferns and yellow cannas predominated- though the party rooms. Bridal games were the enter taining feature. Climax of the evening was the presentation of I a miscellaneous shower to tire honoree. This came as a com- 1 pletc surprise. The lovely gifts | were opened and passed for all ! to admire.
