U. of Macedonia Baptist church met in the home of Mrs. Beck Page Monday night, October 12, with 14 members pre sent. Mrs. Ruth Lynn opened the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Bud Falls conducted the devotional. Topic for discussion was "Sin ful World? A Sufficient Savior." Those taking part on the program were Mrs. Ray Wright, Mrs. Jess Jenkins, Mrs. R. L. Hardin, Mrs. Ruby Stroupe and Mrs. James Bolin: Miss Dutch Cloninger read a very interesting article on "There Is a Fountain". Mrs. J. E. Dover closed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Ruth Lynn will entertain | the members in November. During the social period, sand wiches, doughnuts, potato chips, pickles, coffee and ice tea were served. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Childers, Mr. and Mrs. John Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. Haskelf Wilson and son, Gary, Mr. and Mrs.' Carl Gantt, Miss Cornelia Gantt, Mr. and Mrs. . D. C. Paysour, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wilson and son, Beany, and Mrs. Robert Brackett, Jr. spent Sunday in the moun tains of Western North Carolina. Erskine Alumnae Me+ With Mrs. J. C. McGill The Kings Mountain Chapter of the Erskine Alumnae Association met on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. J..C. McGill. Hos tesses assisting Mi*3. McGill were Mesdames W. E. Blakely, Mike Plonk and N. F, McGill. Upon arrival of guests the hostess sen ved a delicious dessert course with Russian tea. The program topic was "Edu? cation of Women ? Prior to the War Between the States." Miss Shirley Sellers gave an interest ing talk on this topic. Mrs. Edgar Sellers reported on the opening of the 115th session of the college. The president, Mrs. J. L. Mc Gill, presided over the business session. During this part of the meeting, plans were made to in vite the Erskine Chora leers to visit Kings Mountain and to give a program of sacred music at the A. R. P. church. Pledges were made by individual members to support the Scholarship Fund for Erskine, a project of the associa tion. Those attending the meeting were: Mesdames Edgar Sellers, John Cheshire, W. E. Blakely, John Gamble, N. F. McGill, Mike Plonk, J. C. McGill, George Mor row, Grady Patterson, Lona Mc Gill, J. L. McGill, Palmer Fulton.
