Leaders in the departments: Scoring ? Fullback Richard George, with 42 points on seven touchdowns, was tops with Right Halfback Don McCarter running second with 30 points. Rushing -? McCarter, with an average of 6,2 per rush, had 521' yards but George had the roost yards rushted with 613, an average of 5.6 per go, good for second place. Passing ? ? Quarterback Ollle Harris, with 451 yards on 33 completions for a shooting aver age of 47.2 percent. Harris had only two passes intercepted in 70 attempts and threw eight scoring tosses. SCORING Kings Mountain's team scoring figure got a considerable boost via the new T- formation attack, the 1953 club -scoring 119 points on 18 touchdowns and 11 points *fter while the 1952 team-scored 12 TD's arid six PATs for 78 oolnts. [ McCarter, Layton and Left Halfback Genfe Patterson each scored a touchdown in 1952 and Ollie Harris, who failed to tally this season in the T ball handling position, made 12 points. In net yards rushing and pass ing (total offense), the 1953 dub had 1,856 yards as compared to the previous year's 1,429; The de fense was bfetter, the 1953 club allowing only 1,551 yards and the 1952 club 1,756. Capt. Tom Gamble's Moun taineers squeezed by the "Cats by a score of 1451-1450 and Capt. A1 Brackett's hot Independents dumped the Luckies 1433-1382 on the Shelby Recreation Center al leys Monday night. On November 23, the two last place teams also posted wins to rudely shock the front-runners and Monday's repeat -verdicts tightened up thte loop sandlngs. The Mountaineer - 'Cat battle Was a thriller, with Fred Wright, Jr., rolling 132 and 335 lor high honors for the test. Jack Clark hit a 126 line and rolled 319 for the set as the 300-breaking ef forts of three 'Cats ? Paul Ware 308, Boyd Howtell 301 and Ralph Arrowood 301 ? closed the gap but failed at over-taking the win ners. Brackett set a new season high set mark with a 357 set in the other match and pushed his club to the 51 pin verdict.
