Lyr.c'a last Wednes H ' - day evening. a Dinner was served in the din ing room of the home and follow ing the dinner, bridge was en Joyed. Eight members of the club and their husbands made up the < guest list. Mrs. Amos Dean won high for the ladies and L. E. Abbott won the men's high score award in bridge for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Mauney won thte club's couple's prize. Arrangements of iris, roses, and other spring and early sum mer flowfcrs were used in decbra , tlon throughout the home. Mr. And Mrs. H. E. Lynch Hosts At Dinner Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Haywood E. Lyn ch were hosts at a family dinner at their home on East Ridge street Sunday, May 9. Covers were laid for Mr, and Mrs. Lynch, Mr. and Mrs. David j Kincaid of Raleigh, Mr. and Mr?. Arnold W. Kincaid, Mr. ami Mrs. j William Herndon. and Mr, and Mrs. George Tolleson of Char lotte, Spring floral arrangements were used throughout the home. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch accompanl ed their daughter, Mrs. David Kincaid and Mr. Kincaid. to Ra leigh and returned to their home here Monday afternoon. "Family Night" Supper Held At Dixon Church Annual Birthday observance of the Women of the Church of Di xon Presbyterian church was held Saturday night and the congrega tlon enjoyed a family night sup per at 7 o'clock. An offering for Church Exten sion was taken and Mrs. Harry Page showed several children's films and cartoons. Twelve cir cle members attended the meet ing. Mrs. I. A. McGill, circle chain man, presided over the meeting and conducted the business ses sion before a program on "Edu cation in South America." . During the social hour that fol lowed the meeting, the hosttess was assisted in passing straw berry shortcake with coffee. ADWC Meeting Held In Gastonia Friday Regular meeting of the ADWC was held in Gastonia Friday even ing i Mrs. June Ballard, club presi dent, conducted the business ses sion. Plans were completed for a sale of vanilla flavoring to be conducted by club members for club benefit. Members werte ask ed to bring soft materials for bandages at the next meeting of the club to be. given to theNGas ton County Cancer Society. Mother's Day gifts werte pre sented to each member of the or ganization present. Twenty-two members attended the meeting. A poem about Mother's Day was read by Mrs. Winston Keasler. Winners of games played dur ing the social hour were Mrs. Bill GreRory. Mrs. Orrie Valentine, Mrs. Jack Howell, Mrs. Raymond Bradley, Jr.. Mrs. John Z. War lick, Mrs. Ray Alexander, and Mrs. Winston Keasler. Mrs. Marshall Galloway won the door prize and hostesses for thfe meeting were Mrs. June Bal lard, Mrs. Jack Bell, and Mrs. Ray Pigg. First Grade Pupils Visited Shelby Park Mrs. Carl Logan's First grade .of East Elementary school were taken to Shelby's Recreation Park by -their grade mothers .Tuesday, May 4, for an hour of pfay and a picnic. ? C, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Bolin. He expects to leave this week for duty In Cuba. Warrant Officer James W, Mc Daniel of Fort Bragg, Mrs. Ja mes McDaniel and children and Mrs. Mary Jones of Atlanta, Ga., visited during the weekend In the home of Mr. McDanlel's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. McDaniel, in Grover. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gantt, are visiting their daughter. Mrs! Al fred Crawford, and Mr. Craw ford in Astoria. Oregon. They ex ipeot to be away for three weeks. Mrs. Crawford is the former Miss Cornelia Gantt. Fred T. Logan. USN. left Mon day to return W San Diego, Cali fornia, after spending a 10-day furlough here at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Lo gan. Joe Harmon returned to his home Sunday from Gaston Me morial Hospital. Gastonla, where he has been receiving treatment. He is at the home of his parents, I Mr. and Mrs. Homer Harmon, on Grover road. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hay Hugh es and son. Ray, of Newberry, S. C., visited Mrs. Hughes' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Caldwell and Mf. Hughes' parents, Mr., and Mrs. Conrad Hughes, here over the weekend. Lou Ann Tally of Gastonla spent the weekend with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Blalock. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tal ly were dinner guests in the Bla lock home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
