EU*abeth Btmv+rt, Editor ~ Couple Honored Friday At After-Rehearsal Party Miss Ida Patterson and Robert Leon Thompson, of Ashevllle, whose wedding took place Satur day evening In Boycc Memorial ARP church, were honored Friday evening at a rehearsal party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Crook on West Mountain street. Mr, and Mrs. L. A. Hoke were co-hosts for the event, which fol lowed the church rehearsal for the wedding. Miss Patterson wore a ballerina length dress of powder blue net. * A cloth of white linen and cut work embroidery covered the ta ble, and a three-titered white wed ding cake with touches of green occupied the center. Garlands of southern smllax were draped from the cake to each corner of the tablb, where groups of garde njafc were placed. A centerpiece of gardenias, flanked on each side by candelabra holding white tapers, was used on the dining room buffet. Mrs. J. A. Kiser of Charlotte cut and served the cake after the couple had cut the traditional first-piece. Punch was served from a crystal service on a smal ler table near the main refresh ment table by Mrs. A. H. Patter son. Mints and nuts were served with the cake and punch. The living room was decorated with arrangements of magnolias, gladiolas, and gardenias, and an arrangement of shasta daisies was used In the den. About fifty guests attended the party including members of the wedding party, out - of - town guests, and a few close relatives and friends of the couple. Eastern Star Chapter Held Regular Meeting Regular meeting of Kings Mountain chapter 123, Order of thb Eastern Star, was held Friday night at Masonic Hall, Mrs. Rowell l^ane, worthy ma tron, called the meeting to order and presided over the business session. Mrs. Dorothy Garrard of Decatur, Ga., was recognized by the group. A social hour followed the meeting, and Mr. and Mrs. George Hampton served refreshments. Sixteen members of the chapter attended, the meeting. ? Falls-Vissar Vows Pledged Miss Florence Vlssar of Ogden, Utah and A/2C Douglas Falls, USAF, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Falls, Sr., of Kings Mountain, werp married Friday afternoon, June 25, at the home of the bride's parents In Utah. Alnnan Falls was graduated from Kings Mountain high school and has been a mbmber of the armed forces for. two years. He had been stationed overseas in Korea for a year. He visited here recently at the home of his pa rents. 1 ? Two Are Hostesses At Bridge On Friday Mrs. David Kincald and Mrs. Haywood E. Lynch entertained Friday afternoon at bridge at the Lynch home on East Ridge street. Guests were present for f've tables of bridge, and Mrs. D. F. Hord received the high score a ward after games had been com pleted. Miss Susan Moss received the consolation prize. After three progressions of bridge, the hostesses served an iced drink with frozen fruit salad and mints with lemon tarts. The pink and green color scheme was used throughout the home in de coration and on the refreshment plates. Bridge guests Included Mrs. J. C. Bridges, Mrs. G. E. Bridges, Mrs, Walter Harmon, Mrs. D. Club Night Saturday At Country Club Here Club night at Kings Mountain Country club Saturday night will feature a family Fourth ot July picnic and a mammoth fireworks display. Supper, will be served at 1 o'clock_to^adults at $150 and to chlldreiTat 50 cents. Reservations are requested by noon Saturday. Linda and Den nis Smith came home with their grandmother to spend the sum mer months.
