Carroll, drew suspended sentences from Judge Jack White in 'City Recor der's court Monday, afternoon. Paul Junior Chambers, Isaiah Petty, and Walter Lee Moore, each plead guilty and received onb year road sentences, suspend ed on condition that each report onee a month for six months to the chief of police of Kings Mountain, pay $10 fines and costs of court. According to Chief Hugh A. Lo gan, Jr., Moore was arrested by Chief Logan, Sgt. Tom Gladden, and Officer Bill Bell Saturday afternoon at Earl Morris' Junk Yard on U. S. Highway 74 as he was selling a battery to Morris. Moorte, Chief Logan said, ad mitted to the theft of the batter ies from the two firms and im plicated Petty and Chambers. The other Negro youths, Lo gan said, were arrested Sunday afternoon outside the city limits on Waco road by himself and J., is spending a vacation here with his wife and children. A special program will be con ducted at Friendly Aid Hall, W. Ridge St., on Sunday, at 1 p. m? according to announcement by Rev. Kred K. Herndon, with the program to bp presented by the Talents of Gallilee church. Gordon Alexander, a physical ly handicapped Negro of route 1, drew a consolidated Judgment of four months on the roads on charges of driving drunk and driving after license had been revoked. The driving drunk charge was the second offense for the defendant. In pajsing sentence on Alexan der, Judge White recommended that the defendant be given some type of light work while servin? his sentence. Judge Whiie re. marked after sentence was pass ed, that the defendant could "build time" on the roads easier than he could borrow monies for fines. Paul Harmon entered a plea of nolo contendre to a charge of driving while drunk, and received a six months road sentence. Judg ment was suspended on condition that the defendant be of good be havior for six months, that his driver's license be revoked for ond year, pay a firte of $100, and costs of court. Officer P. A. Haw. kins made the arrest. Charges of using profanity on the streets against Bobby Bed dix, of Church street, was nol prossed after Eugene Queen, of . Broad street, testified that the defendant was arrested, while a guest in the yard of his home and had not at any time been on the street using profanity. Beddix was arrested July 24, by Officer Warren Ellison and Sergeant Martin Ware.
