State, Nation Will Increase Milk Production The milk production and supply in 1955 and 1956 will be greater than in 1954 in North Carolina as well as the nation as a whole, according to Dorris D. Brown, ex tension farm managtement and marketing specialist at State Col lege. More milk is expected because of more cows, high production of milk per cow, low beef salvage value, and a diminishing oppor tunity to shift to pork produc tion, experts say. But the dtemand for milk and dairy products this year will more than likely take care of any ex pected increase in production in this state. Brown says that in most areas of North Carolina the farm price for Grade A milk will be slightly lower in 1955. Excess supplies during the spring s'eason are like ly to force down prices, some what. He predicts that feed prices are likely to be slightly higher, but still favorable for continued hea vy feeding, and pastures and for age supplies arte likely to improve in North Carolina. Logan, Jr., stat LET’S By: Grace £ Seima According to a Hollywood fashion designer, men can gain an insight into a girl’s personality by studying the way she wears her stock ings. The woman who sports seamless stockings,' for ex ample, is the sly type who likes to fool men. Zigzag seams denote a rather chur lish nature and typify the woman who likes to nag. Young ladies who lean to wrinkled nylons are said to be the type who find it hard er to get organized than a sparrow in a wind tunnel. The best prospect, gentle men, is the lass who wears seamed stockings and wears ’em straight. This, understand, is the word from an expert who has no doubt given lengthy and, we presume, rather spirited study to the subject at hand. Incidentally, our ex pert made no mention of the parties who wear no stock ings at all, or else brush, spray, rub or blow ’er on out of a bottle. By the way, while on the subject of identifying types, it is said that the way to de termine the dominant per sonality between husband and wife is by the forehead span. That’s measured from ear-to-ear, of course. Run ning the other way some husbands have foreheads creeping cleaf to the nape of the neck! And the nest way to de termine which florist to patronize is to make ONE visit to ALLEN'S FLOW ER SHOP, for it takes on ly ONE visit to convince people that, whether they want to spend ONE dollar or ONE HUNDRED dol lars. the place to go is 624 King Street! (Adv.)) ed that Carpenter had admitted to stealing other Items in other North Carolina counties, in Vir ginia and South Carolina, Oliver, Chief 'Logan, continued, admitted to stealing items in several oth -cr North Carolina counties. These states and counties the officer said, also have charges pending against the youths. Carpenter, it was also brought out in court, is under a suspended sentence in Lincoln county. Prayer for judgment was con tinued for one month for Franze Greene, of Gantt street, charged with non-compliance of North Carolina school law. Mr. Greene was instructed by Judge White to ■be in City recorder’s court in a month. If his daughter, Phyllis, 15, has ibeen attending school regularly at that time, a non suite in the case would be taken by the state. 'Robert Wilson was found guil ty of abandonment and non-sup port of his wife and six children. The defendant was given 18 months on the roads, suspended on condition that he pay $20 each week to the clerk of court for the support of his family, Ibe of good behavior for 18 months, and pay costs of court. A charge of vagrancy against Bill Mitchem was nol prossed with leave with instructions from Judge White that the defendant be placed In the custody of the welfare department who will In turn place Mitchem in a Rest Home near Rutherfordton,. Mitchem was arrested toy Offi cer Paul Sanders and Jack Stone Monday. One defendant was found guil ty and one was found not guilty of public drunkenness.
