The Forrestal will upon its completion be the world’s largest and most modern aircraft carrier. Construction is at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, Virginia. While the requirements of the ship preclude a guarantee of duty aboard this “Queen of the Seas”, the recruiting station said it was highly probable for men re-en listing in the near future, provid ing their rates are included in ships allowance. Ships allowance is the Naval term designating the number of men in various skills authorized as the crew of a Navy ship. Continuous service was defin ed by the recruiting station as re-enlisting within 3 months from date of last discharge. Ex-Navy men so qualifying and interested in further information concerning this opportunity are urged to contact the local Navy Recruiting office before the expi ration of their 3 months period.
