Others pre sent included Mrs. Janie Young, Mrs. Sarah Clark, Mrs. Lottie Means, Mrs. Eunice Hickman, Mrs. Mary Lizzie Roberts, Mrs. Ann Nell Williams, Mrs. Eugenia Brown, Quincy Stars, Sam Brown, and Lawyer Quinn. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Euge nia Brown directed the group to the dining room to a covered dish supper. Funeral service for Meek Mc Gill was held Thursday at 3 p. m. at Trinity AME Zion church, the pastor officiating. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cora McGill; four daughters, Mrs. Sally Hughes, Mrs. Mattie Carroll. Mrs. Laura Jane Rhodes, and Mrs. Wilma McGill, High Point; three sons. Mason and Jim McGill of De troit, and Buster McGill of Balti more, Md.; one brother, Sam Mc Gill of Kings Creek, S. C.; and 12 grandchildren. On Saturday and Sunday nights Arthur Williams, Jr., and Miss Mary Helen Williams, of Gas tonia; and Sammie Williams and Miss Mary Frances Armstrong of Clover were united in marriage in Gaffney, S. C. Both young men are sons of Rev. A. W. Williams of Route 1. There will be a fish fry given on the lawn of Good Hope Pres byterian church on Saturday af ternoon, April 30, beginning at 4 o’clock. School News The Compact chapter of the New Farmers of America was represented at the Atkins Feder al contest which was held at i Lincoln High School on April 25. The chapter was represented in public speaking by Jimmie Dye; the Quiz Contest by Levaughn Crosby; the Chapter Electrician, Alexander Adams; the Quartet, A. F. Goode, Raymond Goode, Donald Louis and Levaughn Crosby; Shop contestant, Berlin Mitche; Talent, Levaughn Cros by. Other boys from the Chapter were Herbert Daniels, Odell Mit chem, and James Curiton. The chapter made a better showing this year, than It did last year. Faculty members present from ! Cornpast were Mr. L. L, Adams, Principal; Mr. M. L. Campbell, Agriculture teacher. State offi cials present were Mr. W. G. Fisher and Mr. W. T., Jackson. Other schools represented were Camp High, Washington High, Green Bethel High, and Douglas High of Cleveland county; John Chavis and Lincoln High of Gas ton county; Clear Creek and Huntersville of Mecklenburg county.
