Second Baptist Circle Held Meeting Monday Rachel Humphries circle mem bers of Second Baptist church held their regular meeting Mon day night at the home of Mrs. H. H. Smith. Nine members at tended. Mrs. Smith had the opening de votional before prayer by Mrs. W. H. Redmond and a program by Mrs. G. W. White, Mrs. S. O. Kirby, Mrs. P. R. Tate, Mrs Nan ny Kitchen, Mrs. Huffstetler, Mrs. McAbee, Mrs. Redmond, and Elizabeth Stewart, Editor Mrs. Smith. A social hour was held and re freshments were served. Mr. Claywell, a former army captain, was stationed in Japan with Mr. Wright, the latter who recently received his army discharge. It was Ihe official visit of the district deputy grand matron, Mrs. Alice Callis, of Bessemer City, and J. C. Huskins, of Gas tonia, district deputy grand pat ron. The group met for a business meeting at Masonic Hall after the supper, and heard a program by Miss Annie Roberts, Mrs. L. L. Benson, Miss Mary Owens, Mrs. Lucille Wells, Mrs. Evelyn Bum gardner, M. C. Pruitt, Mrs. Glenn White, and Miss Kittie Lou Sut ton. Mrs. Leona Atkinson sang ‘‘Love Sent A Little Rose My Way” and Mrs. E. C. Martin gave an honorary membership certifi cate to Mrs. Callis and recogniz ed Mrs. Minnie Abernathy, grand chapter representative, and Mrs. A. W, Kincaid, Mrs. Rowell Lane, Mrs. Zonia Falls, Chcrryville, Burton Callis, Bessemer City, and Mrs. Janie Spencer, of Gastonia, grand chapter representatives. Also recognized were Mrs. Patsy Lindsay, of Bessemer City, wor thy matron, and Lee Spencer, of Gastonia, worthy natron. O. O. Walker and Mrs. F. A. Mc Daniel, Jr. Friendship Class Elects New Officers New officers of the Friendship class of Grace Methodist church were elected by the group Tues day night at the home of Mrs. John Pearson on Linwood road. These include: Mrs. L. P. Price, teacher; Mrs. Paul Howard, as sistant teacher; Mrs. Emmett Ross, program chaplain; Mrs. Frank Ballard, president; Mrs. T. J. Ellison, vice-president; Mrs. Lu ther Bennett, secretary; Mrs. Gertie Roper, assistant secretary; Mrs. Clyde Fite, treasurer; Mrs. George Kennedy,’ assistant treas urer; Mrs. Helen Carpenter, sfec retarv of the children’s home and orphan work committee; Mrs. Roy Matthews, world service sec retary; Mrs. Wilma Seilers, sec retary of the birthday bank com mittee, and Mrs. Andy Huffstet I iti, chairman of the committee on visitation.
