Presbyterian Women Held Meeting Monday The Women of the Church of First Presbyterian church met Monday night at the church and made plans to attend a Leader ship Training school in Gastonia. Members also discussed plans for programs during the Home Mission season. The leadership school, which begins Sunday night, is being held at First Presbyterian church, Gastonia. It Is to instruct teachers and workers in the Sunday School as well as leaders in young peo ple’s work in the church. Mrs. Paul Mauney, the presi dent, conducted the business meeting, and the group heard a program by Mrs. H. A. Goforth Mrs. McClure Hostess To Study Club Meeting Mrs. J. N. McClure was hos tess Tuesday night to the regular meeting of the Study club. Mrs. Haywood E. Lynch, pro gram chairman, reviewed the book, “The Tall Man”, and a book committee selected books for the club year. Mrs. Paul Mau ntey, the president, conducted the business meeting. The hostess served a salad plate with sandwiches, cookies, and coffee. Regular Meeting Held Of Methodist WSCS , Regular meeting of the Wo man’s Society of Christian Ser vice of Central Methodist church was held Monday night. Miss Alice Averitt, city schools teaching consultant, had the pro gram for the Spiritual Life group meeting which preceded the WSCS meeting. Hen dricks, the president, conducted the business meeting and offered the optening prayer. Miss Shirley Hughes Honored On Birthday Miss Shirley Hughes observted a birthday anniversary on Mom day and was honored by her pa rents at a dinner at their home on route 2. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Hughes, J. L. Hughes, Er win Hughes, of Newberry, S. C., and Misses Ailteene, Lucille, and Pauline Caveny. ARP Church Circles Held Joint Meeting Boyce Memorial ARP church circles held a joint meeting Mon day at the church with a covtered dish supper served at 7 o’clock. After the meal, the circles held individual business meetings. Neals Observed Fiftieth Anniversary At Informal Reception In Grover Sunday Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Neal, of Grover, observed their 50th wed ding anniversary on Sunday and were honored by their children at an informal reception Sunday af ternoon at the Neal home. The couple moved to Grover some 35 years ago. Mr. Neal is a Grover native but Mrs. Nteal, the former Miss Mary Edna Bolin, was formerly of Smyrna, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Shuster, of Staunton, Va., welcomed callers and introduced them to the cou ple. Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Morgan, of Grover, directed guests to the dining room where other mfem bers of the family served decorat ed cakes, mints, nuts, and punch. Goodbyes were said to Mrs. C. R. Borders, of Greenville, S. C. Mr., and Mrs. Neal have six children, Mrs. J. K. Shuster, Staunton, Va., Mrs. L. T. Morgan, Vardell Neal, Gene Neal, all of Grover, Mrs. C. R. Borders, of Greenville, S. C., and Mrs. F. C. Carleton, of Charleston, S. C., 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. A color note of gold and white was observed in the decorations throughout the house. Attending from Kings Moun tain were Mrs. E. W. Neal, Mrs. Jacob Cooper and Mr. and Mrg. Lee Roberts. < Boyce Memorial Young People's Group Are Host To Fall Rally Of Presbytery Boyce Memorial ARP church young people were host Tuesday night to the annual fall rally of the Young ♦ People’s Christian union of First Presbytery at the ARP church here. Eighteen churches were repre sented at the rally which featur ed a picnic supper, a program on missions, and a business meeting. Rev. Edward Bland, pastor of Allen Hills church, Charlotte, was the speaker. He gave a pro gram on “Home Missions”. Spe cial music was rendered by Mrs. Paul Ham and Miss Billie Mab ry, both of the Kings Mountain group. Robert Kirkpatrick, of Chal mers, presided over the business session in which plans were dis cussed for the year’s work and reports of officers and commit tees were heard. Other officers are Pat Pressly, of Tabernacle, vice-president, Barbara Blythe, of Gilead, secratary, and Sandra Jenkins of Plaza Hills, treasurer. Miss Pat J.
