Douglas Fritz To Head Ministers The Rev. Douglas Fjitz, pastor of Resurrection Lutherati church, was installed as president of the Kings Mountain Ministerial Asso ciation at the organization’s meeting January 9. Rev. Fritz succeeds Dr. William P. Gerbending as president of the association, OtWer-- officers elected for the coming year included the Rev. A. T. Quakenbush, vice-president; the Rev. W. L. Pressly, secretary and treasurer; and the Rev. Wil liam Sides, chairman of the radio and hospital committee. Rev. Fritz reported that the association had no new members. He also said that Rev. Quaken bush has been named chairman of a committee to draw up a consti tution for the organization. Another fire was reported earlier Sunday morning* whfen a small out building behind the home of J. D. Shockley was destroyed. Damages were estimated at $250. Fire Chief Pat Tignor reported that this fire may have been star ted 'by a camper’s fire. He repor ted that several 'boys had ibeen camping out in the Ibuildlng prior to the fire’s start. R,rtoo“ c„Wv<u S''\j}&w 'xSjhwe-fyi Driver Is Uninjured As Truck Overturns A tractor-trailer loaded with barrels of liquid latex overturned about three miles from Kings Mountain on the Gastonia-Kings Mountain highway Wednesday morning when a tire blew out. The driver, J. Hugh Bartley, 21, escaped without injury, according to Gaston County Sheriff depart ment deputies, who investigated the accident. Bartley told the officers that he was traveling about 45 miles per hour when the tire went down causing his rig to go out of con trol End overturn. The whitish liquid latex spilled out of the trailer, but very little of it got on the pavement, the officers added. The truck, owned by General Latex and Chemical Company of Georgia, was headed north at the time of the accident. White Rocks and Rhode Island reds are the most popular chick ens among North Carolina poul trymen, says R. S. Dearstyne of the State College poultry science department. Three Injured In Auto Crash Three persons were injured, none seriously, and one was ar rested as a result of an accident Saturday morning around 6:15 a. m., at the intersection of W. Kings and Watterson streets. Injured and admitted to Kings Mountain hospital were Ethel Howell, of Box 133, Kings Moun tain, and Ned Hagood Martin, of 407 Gibson street, Marion. Re ceiving first aid treatment at Kings Mountain hospital was Mrs. Huweirs husband, Luther Henry Howell. Mrs. Howell and Martin were discharged from the hospital Saturday. Martin was also arrested and charged with driving while drunk. The accident occurred, police stated, when the 1950 Studebaker occupied toy Mr. and Mrs. Howell was struck in the back toy the 1950 Ford driven toy Martin. The Howell vehicle had stopped for a traffic signal, police reported.
