I Miss Hawkins, daughter of Mr. I and Mrs- P. A. Hawkins, receives a Homemaker of Tomorrow pin and is eligible for state competi tion, according to announcement by General Mills which sponsors the Betty Crocker contests in schools throughout the state. Miss Carolyn Brown, of Kings Mountain, also participated in the contest which was open to all high school senior home econo mics students. Mrs. John Gamble, Central FHA advisor, said that the con test examinations were graded by Science Research ^Associates, an educational testing agency. From test results, she added, a Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomor row for each school in the state was selected. The winner in state competi tion receives a $1,500- college scholarship plus an all expense paid educational tour of the na tion’s capital, Mount Vernon, and Colonial Williamsburg, Va. The winner’s school receives a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica. State winners are to be announ ced in April. G. C. Looney is expected to be discharged Thursday from Moor esville, N. C., hospital where he has been undergoing treatment for the past four weeks. The Rev. W- P. Hall, Jr., pastor of the church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony. White gladioli, pines, and Eng lish ivy interspersed with lighted tapers in wrought-iron candela bras provided background deco ration. Family pews were bow marked with white satin ribbon. A program of traditional wed ding music was presented by Miss Anne Greene, of Shelby, pianist, and Mrs. Max Goode, of Camp Lejeune, vocalist. Mrs Goode sang “Indian Love Call,” “Because” by d’Hardelot, and the benedictional selection “Bless This House.” Traditional wedding marches by Wagner and Mendelssohn were used. The bride was given marriage by her brother, Robert Allen Jones, of Shelby. The wedding gown of white bri dal satin was fashioned with a fitted bodice of rose point lace ac cented by portrait neckline out lined in seed pearls and lace me dallions and long sleeves that end ed in calla-lily points at the wrists. The bouffant skirt, of tulle and satin, extended into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil was attached to a pearl embroidered rosepoint lace cloche and she wore a single strand of pearls, a gift of the groom. She carried a white orchid on a white prayerbook Miss Betty Melton, of Charlotte, was maid of honor, and Mrs. Da vid Hamrick, of Shelby, and Mrs. Bobby Webster, of Kings Moun tain, sister of the groom, were bridesmaids. The'" honor attendant wore a dress of nile green taffeta made with bouffant skirt of tulle and satin and a fitted bodice topped with a matching stole. They carried bouquets of white daisies Martha Ann Stone, neice of the groom, was flower girl. Her dress of mint green taffeta was made with fitted bodice and bouf fant skirt. She wore a matching headpiece and carried a white basket of white roses and daisies. Eddie Callahan, cousin of the bride, was ring-bearer. Walter Ware, of Shelby, was best man for Mr. Ware, and ush ers included Lyman Jones and Allen Jones, both of Shelby, bro thers of the bride, Buford Ware, brother of the groom, and Men zell Phifer, brother-in-law of the grocm. Both are of Kings Moun tain The bride’s mother wore a dress of slate blue with navy blue ac cessories and a shoulder corsage of red roses. Mrs. Ware, mother of the groom, wore a dress of navy crepe with grey accessories and a red rosebud corsage. Mrs. Ware, daughter of Mrs. Allen Jones, of Shelby and the late Mr. Jones, was graduated from Boiling Springs high school, Gardner-Webb Junior college, and Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Charlotte- She is a member of the nursing staff of Gaston Memorial hospital, Gas tonia. Mr. Ware, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Ware, of Kings Moun tain, was graduated from Beth ware high school and Gardner Webb Junior college at Boiling Springs. He is employed in the offices of Foote Mineral company here The couple received wedding guests in the church vestibule and left for a Florida wedding trip. For traveling, Mrs. W^re wore a suit of black linen, black pa tent accessories, and a gray cash mere wool topper. She wore the orchid from her bridal bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Ware will reside at 1726 Poston circle, Gastonia Methodist Guild Held Meeting Tuesday The Wesleyan Service puild of Grace Methodist church met Tues day night at the home of Mrs. Bobby Crawford. Mrs. Luther Bennett was co-hostess. Mrs. Bill Jonas had the devo tional after the group sang the guild song.
