Annual blue and gold banquet
of cub scouts of Boyce Memorial
ARP church was held Tuesday
evening.
The banquet featured the pre
sentation of advancements and
awards to the scouts and an ad
dress by Ben Moomaw, superin
tendent of Kings Mountain na
tional military park who gave a
program on scouting.
Movies of the cub scouts’ camp
ing trip to Bon darken were also
shown, and gifts were present jd
to Don Crawford, cub master, and
to Mrs. W. L. McMackin and Mrs.
John Cheshire, den mothers.

speaker, and Dr. Pressly said the
invocation. Members of the Mary
Kennedy circle served the meal
which included ham, potatoes,
brown gravy, apple sauce, rolls,
green beans, hot chocolate, cof
fee, and ice cream. Rolls for the
banquet were donated by Bost
and Waldensian Bakeries.
A color note of blue and gold
was observed in the decorations.
Blue and gold streamers were us
ed on the table together with blue
candles in brass candelabras and
clusters of blue and gold balloons.

Issued By Court
Judge Jack White had an easy
day of it Monday when Kings
Mountain Recorder’s Court held
its weekly session.
With George Thomasson back
on the job as solicitor of the city
court, the judge had practically
nothing to do.
Of the many cases called Mon
day, only a "handful of defendants
were on hind to be tried. Capia
ses were ordered issued for the
absent offenders.
Lucia Wells Wilson charged
with driving drunk, resisting an
officer, and damaging public pro
perty, asked for a trial by jury.
Thi? request was granted by
J*fdge White after the jury fees
had been posted
S* W. Painter appeared in court
charged with failure to comply
witjt the N. C. compulsory school
Ispts, but prayer for judgement
was continued after Judge White
heard the evidence in the case.
Mr. Painter’s son, Reginald,
had been attending school, but

of the school day
Judge White gave the boy a
stern warning, and said that if
he missed another day of school
without a legitimate excuse, he
would send him to the juvenile
home for boys.
Two defendants pleaded guilty
to charges of- public drunkenness
and were given 30 day sentences,
suspended, upon payment of the
costs of court.
Capiases were issued for Henry
Tate, Austin Falls, Perry Melton, ,
Edgar Reeves, Roy Adams, and 1
C. T. Green on charges of public
drunkenness.
A capias was issued for Her
man Fredell on charges of failure
to pay a taxi fare and for non
support. Annie Mae Towery had a
capias issued for her after
she failed to appear on a charge
of abandonment of a minor child
Ned Haygood Martin forfeited
a $200 bond when he failed to ap
pear to face charges of driving
drunk.
One public drunkenness case
was continued until February 13.
