Methodist Circle 5 Held Meeting Monday Circle 5, of Central Methodist church, held its regular monthly meeting Monday night at the home of Mrs. W. M. Gantt. Mrs. G. C. Kelly was co-hostess. Mrs. Kelly gave the devotional before a program, “We Would Be True Disciples” by Mrs. Clarence Peele and Miss Marie Lineberger. Members conducted an auction sale, and Mrs. Gantt, circle chair man, conducted the business ses sion. A social hour was held and refreshments were served. Eastern Star Elects New Otticers At Regular Meeting Here On Friday New officers of Kings Moun tain chapter 123, Order of the Eastern Star, were elected at the chapter’s regular meeting Friday night at Masonic Hall. Mrs. D. E. Tate and F. R. Mc Curdy, out-going officials, were honored at a program given by members and other officers, and officers gave Mrs. Tate a Kreme tzi bracelet and Mr. McCurdy a billfold. Miss Hel en Logan, who was elected wor thy matron for 1956-57, presented the gift to Mrs. Tate, and M. C. Pruitt, Sr., of Grover, elected wor thy patron, made the gift presen tation to Mr. McCurdy. Honor Society Honors Students The Kings Mountain chapter of the National Honor Society honored 22 Central high school students who had “A” grades dur ing the past six weeks period at a party in the school cafeteria Monday afternoon. Honored were Peggy Gunnells, Peggy Joyce Reynolds, Shirley McDaniel, Sherry Kelly, Judy Cooper, James Pressly, Norma Kay Hamrick, Diane Cansler, Peggy Black, David Plonk, Bob Early, Gertrude Pearson, Mary Frances Bridges, Martha Houser, Mikie Lynn, Don Tignor, Virginia Ramsey, Carolyn Walker, Roger Blackwell, Ann Falls, Jtean Hicks, and Polly Page. Cookies and colas were served. Judean Shrine Installs Officers Mrs. Rowell Lanle and Miss Helen Logan, both of Kings Mountain, were among seven new officers installed Saturday night, by the Judean Shrine 13, Order of The White Shrinle of Jerusalem. Miss Logan was installed wor thy guide of the order, and Mrs. Lane was installed as noble pro phetess. Other officers installed at a public installation meeting includ ed Mrs. Lou B. Meachem, worthy priestess; Burton E. Callis, watch man of the shepherds; Mrs. Thel ma J. Jackson, worthy chaplain; Mrs. Catherine Pierce, worthy shepherdess, and Neil Carson, Jr., associate watchman of the shtep herds. Installing officer was Mrs. Leo la M. Byerly, past worthy high priestess, assisted by Garry N. Lyerly, deputy supreme watch man of the Shepherds; "* Harry Hayes Honored On Sixth Birthday Harry Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hayes, observed his sixth birthday Saturday and was honored by his parents at a birth day party at their home on route one. Mrs. Hayes was assisted by her sister, Miss Mary Grace Grayson, and Mrs. Louise Rhea in serving ice cream, cake, potato chips, can dies, and cold drinks. A white birthday cake iced in green and pink and topped with yellow candles centered the refreshment table. Miss Short Honored At Party Saturday Mrs. Hoyle Putnam and Mrs. Tommy Hicks entertained Satur day evening at the home of-Mrs. Lawrence Henderson, Sr., at a party complimenting Miss Ernes tine Short bride-elect. Miss Short’s wedding to Law rence Henderson, Jr., will take place April 1st in First Nazarene church. Bridal games and contests were directed, and the hostesses served assorted sandwiches, cookies, po tato chips, and cold drinks. Tra ditional bridal colors were observ ed on refreshment plates and in room decorations. Miss Short wore an orchid jum per with white nylon, blouse. The hostesses gave her a novelty cor sage of spoons and other house hold utensils. Twenty-five guests attended the party and gave the honoree a shower of miscellaneous house hold gifts. Mrs. Cooper Hostess To Duplicate Bridge Club (Mrs. Jacob Cooper was hostess Monday afternoon to members of the Duplicate Bridge club at her home. Mrs. Hugh Ormand and Mrs.. Amos Dean were invited to play with the regular club members. Bridge prizes went to Mrs. C. D. Blanton, who received high score, and to Mrs. Tolly Shuford, who received second high.
